Barry, me too, but when I saw that picture the first thing I thought of was the clock top full of forged baseballs.

That Trophy Bat with the Stadium Scene might be the single most beautiful piece of memorabilia I've ever seen. Can't even imagine the detail and effort that went into creating that, back in the day. It's impossible to pick a favorite trophy, as they are all simply gorgeous works of art.
What we have gained in the way of technology, we have completely lost in terms of artistry, attention to detail and pride of workmanship. That said.... I'd gladly surrender my iPhone 6 for any one of those trophies I cannot even fathom artifacts like that being produced today. Thanks for posting! |

Perezfan I couldn't put it any better being the 19th century collector that I am is why I took mostly pictures of old items in the Hall of Fame. the Shibe case with the old baseballs is just a remarkable piece from back in the day. each baseball is a work of art in its own

Last time I was in Coop was 2004. I used to make it an annual tradition to drive up for the day (4 hours) on the Friday after Thanksgiving, visit the HOF and National Pastime store, and drive home late. I did that for 10 years and stopped.
Here are some photo albums from my last 2004 visit. http://s26.photobucket.com/user/vint...?sort=3&page=0 For those not familiar with National Pasttime, it was like a Memorbilia museum. Everything high priced and not really priced for sale, but awesome to look at. I remember the first time I waked in there in the 90s, and I was beginning collecting - it was like heaven on earth. They closed several years ago. |

It has been many years since we were there but I remember a wonderful store right in front of Doubleday Field that had tons of old yearbooks and programs for sale?
I think I received a few catalogs from them for a few years after that trip? |

I loved the National Pastime store -- I managed to buy quite a few items when they shut down a few years ago. Here's a sampling --

Very true, especially for more common items that could be had easily elsewhere. They were willing to haggle and even trade, and if you were willing to pay top dollar, rarer items could be found there. When they closed a lot showed up on auction and could be had for fair market value - I picked up a few things myself.
