Default Legendary Auction 8/29-8/30

Pretty heavy amount of autographs in Legendary's current auction. Anyone in on anything?

Wouldn't trust my money with those people. Criminal indictments kind of sour things.

Understood but as long as you bid what you're willing to pay...

Default Legendary Auction wins

I was very happy to win this beautiful Ford Frick 1938 Reds team ball that features the signatures of all of the starting 9 that played in both of Johnny Vander Meer's back-to-back consecutive no-hitters. The Reds skipper Bill McKechnie (HOF) is also present on one of the side panels. Willard Hershberger, Lombardi's back up catcher that committed suicide in the upocoming years is also present on this ball (tough!). This ball is a perfect fit for my Vander Meer collection, and I feel that it was actually a bargain.

Vander Meer's back-to-back no-hitters starting 9
Lonny Frey
Wally Berger
Ival Goodman
Frank McCormick
Ernie Lombardi (HOF)
Harry Craft
Lew Riggs
Billy Myers
Johnny Vander Meer

Did anyone win Lot 792 Historic "Trailblazer" Baseball Autograph Collection (44) looking to break it up? I'm interested in the Dinneen.

To anyone that won the same lot that Mark referred to, Lot 792 (Trailblazers), I'm very interested in acquiring the HB "Dutch" Leonard signed 3 x 5 out of this lot

That 1914 season for Dutch was out of control...

19-5 | 0.96 ERA | 0.886 WHIP | 279 ERA+

Absolutely, Mark!
Here are pictures of my game used ball from Dutch Leonard's no-hitter in 1916.
I believe it's the only one known to exist...

Concur. They didn't return 2 emails regarding questions I had on some of the lots. Makes me worried they are not answering emails from potential buyers.

Maybe in their next auction they'll auction off different kind of uniforms, ones with stripes.

Seems they never answer emails. I have tried to contact them the last 2 auctions with consignments and even sent pictures and both times they never replied back so i sent them elsewhere. Screw it, if you won't answer back I won't give you my business.

I didn't try e-mailing them, but did call them regarding getting photos/scans/info clarification on three lots. FWIW, they posted additional pictures on the auctions within minutes. It sounds like going this route may have been the way to go.

I don't know about the rest of you, but after looking over some of the auction realized prices, it seems as if many stayed very low compared to where I thought they would end up.

Just from the posts on this thread, it sounds like many potential bidders may have stayed away from bidding in this auction...

Scott, in retrospect, we should have bought that lot, taken our respective autographs and sold the rest. Damn hindsight!

Mark,
I agree! Do you know where this lot went, price-wise? I can't see the final price when I went on their website.

1300 plus juice so around $1500. Is Dutch a tough autograph?

Scott, Jodi has a cut of Leonard in his "new arrivals" section on his website if interested.

Jodi's asking $1850. Is that inline with what Dutch goes for?

In their defense, I guess it depends on the content and timing of the email. If you were refering to things such as pistripes, why would they respond? Also, if you send them an email the day of the auction for example, things can get busy. Why wouldn't you just call them? Just a thought..

Whoosh!

He was referring to prison gear due to the impending indictments...

I know.. hence my response.. Just saying, perhaps someone talking about them in prison is not a priority to them. Whoosh is right!
