Default are we not men (and a woman)?

I told a friend about the National and she said we were a bunch of nerds. So I took off my glasses by the taped up middle, threw my pocket protector at her (missing from 2 feet away, of course), pulled up my floods and left.

I hope you took your slide rule out of your pocket protector before you threw it.

As evidenced by the pic below, I was once a huge nerd. But, the consensus among my friends and family is that I got a whole lot cooler when I started collecting vintage cards

Maybe collecting makes the eyes buldge...? Intensifies the expression...makes one look--anxious? Greedy? Idunno.

Speaking as a relatively newbie, I think I've become MORE cool since collecting cards. Here's a recent photo:

In the 45 minutes or so since I published a photo of myself since card collecting, I've received literally HUNDREDS of e-mails asking for a BEFORE photo.

Alright, here I am before card collecting. Nowhere near as cool looking, just another baseball wannabe:

BTW, in answer to the question, "Are we not men?," I must say that We Are Devo.

Although I am not technically a nerd, I sure can sympathize with the feeling which could lead one to stick a feather in his cap and call it maccaroni.

If you have to ask exactly what technically is required to be a nerd, then:
a)you are not a nerd, and
b)you would never understand anyway.

Nerds, drunks(just go to a card show early on a Sunday and sniff the air), crooks, divorces, loosers, misfits of just about any discription. I wish I could say that they are all harmless, but I try not to make too much direct eye contact....

I have never noticed foul odors at a card show, but there have been times in the past when this bb card nerd (heck, W517 actually means something to me)was sure glad there was a table separating myself from the dealer on the other side.

The odor is of stale beer and cigarettes. Not to mention the odor that comes from a lack of personal hygiene. Or maybe this is just in the NYC area shows?
