Default O/T Ok you got me, I dress in drag when i time travel

Now that Ive been caught I thought Id show off the footage of me attending Charlie Chaplins premier of "The Circus".

seriously, I know it isnt really a cell phone but still fascinating to watch! Someone on youtube posted that there was a particular hearing aid that is most likely the answer. Interesting though that the woman looks like a man in drag AND is talking to herself! Love these kind of mysteries

It was a hearing aid made by Siemens in the 1920's. That being said, looking at the footage through the prism of our 21st century sensibilities, it certainly does look like a man talking on a cellphone.

As someone else posted in another blog about this story, the time traveler would ALSO have to have carried a cell phone tower back in time with him to be able to use his cell phone.

Since this was 1928 and a Charlie Chaplin movie premier, why couldn't it just be a mentally ill fan walking around talking to herself/himself?

Well let's not be hasty here. Presuming someone DID come up with technology to bend time and send a person back to the 1920s, is it such a leap to think that they'd have a way of sending radio-waves back then? It's not like the signal would be intercepted or anything. As long as there's a portal within a few miles, there's no reason why the cell phone shouldn't be able to send signal through a time portal. Except for electro-magnetic interference, of course..

By the way, the "individual" (I hesitate to say "woman"), is clearly talking into the device. Are there any real old timers here? Were there mass-market Walkie-talkies back then?

I just read the walkie talkie wasn't introduced until 1940.

Regarding the cell tower. I actually don't travel through time. A holographic image of me (dressed as a woman) does and it emulates whatever I am wearing at the time. I usually talk on my cell which is why it appears I was doing it in 1928. Obviously I'm not actually time traveling in the flesh or I'd be holding my own authentic coachs corner auction every week (and making sure john clarkson signs with something other then a sharpie).

I'm surprised you recognized me dynarl. I wasn't wearing my usual pumps that day.

What I love the most about this clip is that you got a person appearing to be using a cell phone. Logic tells us that impossible...ok...but she appears to be a man in drag and talking to herself! I know this isn't a time traveler but what were the odds that some random woman in some random film 82 years ago would look like a man AND be crazy? I love it! Oh...AND be mistaken for a time traveler Lol.
