Default A torn example of very rare 1959 Topps insert card goes for $110+

I recall there was a thread that the '58 Herrara variation was arguably the toughest 1952 - 1980 Topps card issued.

The 1959 Topps Baseball Elect Your Favorite Rookie Insert appears to be much rarer. It's not even mentioned on PSA's Pop Report for '59's. This is the first example that has appeared on eBay for quite a while, if ever.

no doubt it is very rare as i have never seen one or knew of its existance, but 2 things hurt its value imo, paper stock(which seller notes) and lack of a year date. neat item! edited to add: my 2005 standard catalogue lists this item at $13.50 --$7.00--$4.00 and the pennant card at the same prices

There are 2 paper inserts for 59, the elect a rookie and the felt pennant. I have one of each and can send a color copy if anyone needs a scan of them. The Herrer is not an issued card, just a print defect of the regular card, and not by any means the hardest Topps card from that period

Damn! Thought I'd put that set to bed when I finally tracked down the Spahn errors and the no option lines.
Thanks for posting this Dan, it doesn't appear on the checklist I was using, but is definitely part of the set.

I'm off to add another entry to the wantlist.

Lemke did an article on them in SCD and they are in the big book now. Variation is not all that exciting. On the back the card can be found with and without a circle around the copyright symbol . On the version with no circle, it can be found both with and without a period after the A in U.S.A.

Tough to run down since most sellers do not know about it, no one shows back scans of commons, and even if you ask them to look they either don't or don't really know what to look for if they do
