Default Cabinet Photo help....bought something on a whim!

This thread is a perfect example of why I visit and very occasionally post on this forum. A little bit of hijacking, a little bit of bitching and the original question answered answered perfectly. Keep up the good work.

Dave,

I think the M116 itself is a dead ringer for the cabinet photo - definitely looked like the same guy to me even before the Sporting Guide evidence.

You should maybe consider picking up an M116 Simon - it would make a very cool companion piece to the cabinet.

Joann...

Thanks, I was pretty sold myself I think from the M116 comparison. As far as picking one up...great idea..but I'm wanting to "try" not to tilt too far away from my T206 focus. The only things that would bend me a different direction at this point, maybe finding another such photo of a T206 player, and then a T206 player's autograph at some point.

You go on vacation for a few days and look at what you miss. I absolutely knew before I listed this that all the players I had photos of were from the 1906 Peoria Team of the 3I league which is why I posted all that info in my auction. I did not take the time though to check well enough if it was the same Simon that later played for Pittsburgh. I dont mind though, even knowing the buyer got a great deal in retrospect. Nobody put a gun to my head when I set the buy it now so I am happy for the buyer here.

As for the cabinet card, I have the entire team of roughly 12 photos. Each is identified on the back by the last name only. I remember Dick Eagen has one, and 3-4 other players who went on to play in the pros. Most of the rest have the mounts trimmed off but similar photos to the Simon.

Thanks for speaking up Rhys. I didn't have any doubt the things you mentioned in the auction were true once I figured out it was you. Have your additions here on the board often enough to know you are more than aware of what your talking about.

I had sent you a private email by the way asking about the payment method your wanting.

Regards
Dave

I saw the listing as well. It looks like Mike Simon to me. I have a Pirates Spring Training photo circa 1910 that I've cropped out the player I believe is Mike Simon. Here it is for comparison.

Patrick...it doesn't look like him there to me. I tried looking at both the photograph and the M116 and can't really see much resemblance from either to the one you posted..but I've been wrong before.

Is anybody here a computer guy that could help out?

Barry has emailed the picture from the 1907 Spalding Guide...perfect match, but it is in a .bmp instead of a .jpeg and I have no way to change it...if anybody can help please let me know and I can forward the email..then hopefully post it here.

Thanks.
