Horrible.

You can tell he's not very bright - starting the auction at a whopping $16,000, instead of doing a BIN/OBO or low starting price with a reserve (to at least get price discovery if it ends below the reserve).

BTW, what's with all these Barry Halper LOA's? Did Halper actually own this ball or have they just copied this COA over and over?

I like how he quoted from "The Old Man and the Sea," as if that helps authenticate the autograph.

Exactly. Since the old man was a baseball fan, the signature has to be good. Makes sense to me.

To all of you still on the fence on this one.........PRICE REDUCED $4000 bucks!! Thats right you heard it here first but still have to pay the $7.68 shipping. But thats still a 7 cent savings on shipping if your keeping score.

At the very bottom of the listing comes the clincher:

Keep in mind this baseball is not a flat surface,
But ROUND.
Well, in that case....

The secret auction ended. He has now relisted this gem as a BIN or make offer.
Might be worth $2 to have a ball to play with.
Probably sold for $70 on CC.

Halper Bros. was a paper company. My firm used to buy paper towels and toilet paper and the like from them. One of the Halper cousins told me that when they folded, hundreds of reams of stationery were thrown out or taken home by employees. Obviously, someone realized that this letterhead could be used for nefarious purposes.

Damn. I am pissed. why didn't I get banned? I just put in a $5 BIN offer(which was automatically rejected BTW), but it went through.

If that's what happened it just shows how dumb these forgers are. It would be much easier and make much more sense to just create made-up stationery that has more relevance to baseball memorabilia. And they obviously are unaware that using 'Barry Halper' as your fake company's CEO is a bad thing.

Heck, it's 2018.
