Default Show us your vintage wax packs!!!

Do you guys open them or keep them closed?

I am thinking of starting a tradition this year at Christmas by buying a nice vintage sealed pack and then opening it on that specific day...then sending any nice hits to have them graded.

I know I know Christmas is FAR away!!!

I actually bought some un-opened packs.
Bought some 86-87 Fleer basketball & some 79 Hockey
(those with possible Jordan RC and Gretsky RC)...sent them in to grade and came back as tampered....so i opened them up.

2nd time..i think i bought like a 5cent (1 card) unopened wax....waited and eventually opened it. Still got wrapper/card

3rd time... i bought a whole un-opened case of Topps Basketball --81-82...well opened all the packs..sent in the 3 larry birds to SGC for grade and went well.

4th time... i bought a grade 9.5 wax pack 1984 football

5th time.. i bought a rack pack 86 football.. got 3 Jerry Rice Rc and a Elway.

6th time..i got suckered into a 53 xmas baseball rack pack..still were nice cards and sent for grading and got good results. Sometimes i put them on ebay.

Default Fleer Weirdo

Brett---to the best of my knowledge 1966. If you check fleersticker.blogspot.com you can find great info on all the many Fleer baseball products of the 60s and 70s...and there were many

Jmoran19:
What is the blue cardboard box "called". It was the first pack of cards I ever bought. Do we call it a "Cello"? What year? 1972?

Both 1971 and 1972 cello packs came with the blue boxes. The 1971 box has "30 baseball cards", the 1972 box on page 1 just says Topps baseball cards, doesn't say how many cards.

Here's some of mine- the oldest ('33 Sport Kings) is dead in the middle and it goes around chronologically from there.

Default 1971 Greatest Moments

I have seen a box, but never a pack or wrapper. I have a set. No gum stains, but have read where others say they have cards with such stains...but have never seen one or a scan of one

Bob, that's ridiculous. I think between the Bob, Anthony and Al we can just shut this thread down now.
