Default 1983 Donruss Bryn/Byrn Smith Variations

Can anyone tell me exactly HOW MANY ERR/VAR combos exist for this card & list EXACTLY what they are?

I think there are 3, but need someone to verify:

I believe there is Bryn COR F-Bryn COR B
Byrn ERR F-Byrn ERR B

and I have a card that is Bryn COR F w/ Byrn ERR B

Can ANYONE confirm these 3 versions?

Is there a Byrn ERR F w/ a Bryn COR B?

Default Anything ever come from this?

I saw this thread from 4 years ago and thought I'd check to see if anyone has any updated information.
I recently put together a 1983 Donruss master set and was under the impression that there were 3 variations of this card - wrong spelling on both sides, correct spelling on both sides, and correct on front and wrong on back.
I'd swear the place I found this information was Trading Card Database which listed 3 Smith variations, and I'd lay money down that they actually had an image of the correct spelling on the reverse. I checked back and they now show only two - am I going crazy? That was the only place I ever saw evidence of a 3rd version with the name correct on both sides.
Now, all they show is the wrong spelling on both sides, and the correct on front, wrong on back version that all other sources support.
So, unless someone on this forum has other information, I'll consider my set complete without a Smith that has the correct spelling on both sides.

I SWEAR that site has been updated to remove an earlier image of the name spelled correctly on the reverse...maybe it's just age.

PSA has a card graded as Bryn Front, Byrn Back:
https://www.psacard.com/auctionprice...uction/2224617

You might be able to find it on Worthpoint and confirm that some sheets in the interim of the correction were printed correctly on one side, but with old stock for the other side.
I didn't see any on COMC, but Rich Klein can check the sold out ones for you if you ask.

Thanks - but this just goes to further my suspicion that there are only 2 varieties - the mystery version that I'd bet a round of drinks I once saw had BRYN spelled correctly on both sides. Now, all I can find is the name spelled incorrectly on both sides, and another with correct spelling on front and incorrect on reverse.

Like you suggest, they printed it incorrectly on both sides, and then corrected it on the front, forgetting about the back.

I'm ready to conclude there is no version with BRYN spelled correctly on both sides.

The Trading Card Database photos are not always real. Many are fake photos and they list these as variations that " DO NOT "exist. Someone is sending them fake photos and collectors are adding them to their list. Many have been taken off the site if you contact them.

Reminds me of the Ron Jackson A’s error. Now if I can only find it. I love 83 Donruss and have stacks of it.

Who would have thought in the 80s that the Great Donruss Mystery Hoax would not be resolved in 36 years?
