Greg

That is one of my favorite pennants of all, as well. Of course, I don't have one. My sister-in-law was kind enough to send me this one from her grandparent's old cottage in Nova Scotia...

Max,

Someone got that pennant of yours two days ago on ebay for a song in gorgeous condition. It was a live auction. I have one as well.

Bruce,
I second what Greg said! I'd love to see the 1901 Brewers Program. I have a 1900 which I'll post later. Here's a pennant from my collection.

I removed them from a scrapbook and they were all labelled...that one said "manager Clark" I haven't done too much digging so I don't have a first name. I have other photos from that lot too...the other photo posted was labelled "Tom Jones".

This one was labelled "Lena Blackburne"
This one was labelled "Lewis" I think it is Phil Lewis because it said "Brooklyn" also.

I have sold many of my baseball related pieces as the prices grew faster than my ability to pay for them:-) I still have a few however. Unfortunately most of the ones I still have are ALL my favorites..... I am trying to get my new digital camera to work and I'll share some pix of my room in the other thread when I do. Could take a while as I'm a bit of a dinosaur..... In the meantime this is among my favorites not only for the superb artistry but the chromolithography as well. Oh yeah. The condition is VERY fine.

Dan, thanks for the additional photos. The name you were missing was Harry "Pep" Clark, who was a player/manager for the team. The other names you had were correct, Russell (Lena) Blackburne, Phil Lewis and Tom Jones. Any chance you got a Hap Felsch photo in that lot? He was on the team in 1913.

He wasn't mentioned on any of the photos, but not all photos had notations...here are the rest of the photos I got in that lot. It was a game against the Columbus Senators so some of these photos are Columbus players.

but we're talking vintage baseball memorabilia, not practice, and I'm not an OT kind of guy (). Here is a Saint Johns (NY) baseball team cap and ancillary medal circa 1899-1903. Medal was awarded for four years service in 1902-3.

I would have to say all the items and catalogs I have that Draper and Maynard made, the dog reminds me of mine when I was a kid, even if I part with an item I try and keep a photo

Take Care Jimmy

I think its from 1922 (after he died). If you look closely at the image of him on the end of the "spinner" on the board, it is the same image that he appears with on his 1914 CJ.

I'll Try to get some close-ups of the "spinner" over the weekend, it is really cool. It says "spin the pitcher" on the bar in front of him. The sheet on the right has names of players in small squares organized by team that were meant to cut up and placed clip pins, like a paper clip that could be on the basepaths or on the dugout I guess. The lineup listed for the N.Y. Americans is:

Baker 3B
Collins P
Devermer C
Fergusen C
Fewster LF
Hawk CF
Hoffman C
Hoyt P
Mays P
R. Musel RF
E. Miller CF
McNally 3B
Peckinpough SS
Pipp 1B
Quin P
Ruth LF
Roth RF
Schang C
Shawkey P
Ward 2B

Can anyone tell the exact year based on this lineup?
Thanks!
Greg

Greg--think the Game itself was copyrighted in 1922. Babe got there in '20...Roth in '21..and Jack Quinn was gone in '22, so lineup (i'd assume) had to be 1921. Think if you found a '21 Yankee roster somewhere, those names probably correct...
Don't forget the spinner pix!!

I've got a copy of the same Matty game (incomplete--only have the top and the board--but with Matty not broken off the spinner, thankfully)

There was another version just auctioned, which I think was rarer. I think I saved a copy of the scan somewhere, but if anyone else has an image to post, I'd love to see it.

Max

Outside of my prewar cards, I have several bats I really like. It would be hard to choose among them but here is one of them, a pre-1897 Hillerich Crackerjack ring bat.

It is indeed a beautiful piece. I have the box cover only, framed and hanging on the wall in my office.

BTW, you state:

"I think its from 1922 (after he died)."

Matty died in 1925 so he was alive at the time this was produced. I'm sure it made him proud.

I thought he had died by 1922, I'm glad to hear it was produced while he was alive. I always thought it was a little creepy that they would issue something like this after he passed. That gives me more appreciation for it. Thanks guys, glad you like the pics!
