Default T206 back variations: price multiplier and scarcity

Posted By: Aaron Cowan

I only been collecting T206s for about two or three years, but I always consider that back that is on any card I purchase or think about purchasing. When looking on www.T206museum.com or in the SCD for back multipliers it seems that the uncommom backs (not rare) get measly 1.5 or 2 multipliers for there price. I've seen a lot of auctions on eBay where someone has a Polar Bear back or EPDG and their title proclaims its scarcity. Then reading these two recent threads I've already mentioned leads me to believe that these uncommon backs don't receive the respect for their scarcity. I'm not expecting American Beauty or Sovereign cards to start competing in prices to Hindu or Carolina Brights but it seems like the uncommon backs are more rare than uncommon. I see some of you guys post many many cards that have a Sovereign XXX Series or an EPDG back but a majority of people say "1 of 200", or "8 out of 450" and that makes me second guess teh value of these backs.
