For those who belong to facebook.com:

I noticed there was no place for the vintage card collectors, so I made one. Don't plan on running it...just starting it. Feel free to join up under the group "Vintage Baseball Card Collectors." There are already a few familiar members (faces). Better to have everyone in one common place IMHO.

I think facebook is great idea. It is also a place to post bad transactions with buyers and sellers from the B/S/T section. Can easily be posted there.

We created an virtual trading app for FB that accesses all our images and information on VCP. Here is the link and get the good ones while you can.

http://apps.facebook.com/sportcards/item.html?item=163123

Use the search functions to find the cards you want.

Also on VCP we now have

http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php

on every page so if there is an image you want to add to your wall on Face book you can now with a click.

Just some fun things to play with in our spare time.

Not long ago I made a face book page on a lark, as a friend said she had one, though I could never figure out the use for it. Now perhaps I'm finding a use for existence.

"...though I could never figure out the use for it."

David,

I'm with you about not understanding the use, but I'm trying hard to figure it out. My son recently graduated from high school. He had 426 kids in his graduating class. If you search Facebook for that high school and graduating year, you come up with 402 matches. Being a little bit surprised by this, I went back and looked at the school he attended in Ohio for his freshman year. That Class has about 300 students. A search yielded 288 matches.

Whether we understand it or not, it has become the universal method for this generation to keep track of friends and acquaintances.

I never see myself writing: "Jim is going to the bathroom and then taking a ride to Home Depot!", but some people obviously feel the need to keep us all posted on everything they do.

Edited to add- My 15 year old daughter was shocked that so many kids in each of these examples did NOT have a page set up.

I just recently created my page. I went ahead and created it because I was trying to view someone's page and I had to join to do so. Glad I did because I've talked to some old friends who I havent seen or heard from for almost 15yrs. Alot from high school and college. It's also a good networking tool. I love it and am glad I created a page.

My good friend updates his page all the time on his iPhone. We'll be out and he'll update his status...such a geek.LOL

In The Simpsons, Ned Flanders said he didn't want a personal computer as he the thought of all those strangers googling each other made his skin crawl.

My grandmother mangled the famous computer company's acronym and told people that her son-in-law owned two ICBMs. A man responded to her, "I hope not."
