Thanks Chris, I've been trying to pickup some of the greats from the 50s recently.

It wil be one of the key cards to my RC collection and a nice investment indeed.
Ian(our prewar board member) bumped the price a few times later on and had a good shot. I consider myself lucky. So today i bought lottery tickets (Mega Million and PowerBall) one for 110 mill and the other for 200 mill.
I feel bad now Chris, because I probably cost you several hundred dollars! As said on the other pre war board, I was so so so close to punching one more bid. Had the total with BP calc'd out to $10 less, I may have, but it was right at that next round number ($3K) and I held back.

I guess these are my consolation prizes this month--

Awesome autos.

And man does that Star Wars figure bring back memories from childhood! Doesn't a piece like that cost thousands? Good vibes!

@Ian:
Dont worry Ian. it happens. MattyC may been the only one to know i was going after it.
Yeah, I am going for RC's, and this one was out of my data range i am normal doing.
Just some cards appeal to me than others. Thats why i have not sealed the deal on a Banks or Ryan Rc yet i guess. I do like your B&W dimmagio alot and it appeals to me more than say that Yogi RC. Call me weird, maybe thats why Koufax is like last on my list.
Some people got addictions, mine is cardboard cards.

Matt- not thousands.. yet Anyway, loaded up on bid bucks and a beer, I figured I'd grab one before the next triology releases and a whole new generation is sucked in for life. These figures are crazy nostalgic for me too. I grew up on those movies and toys in a way that even pre-dates baseball (saw the Star Wars re-release in theater at about 2).

Chris- I really like the '36 premium Dimaggio too. Great, weird/toothy grin of his.. and can see why it became a good cartoon. Think he's about 21, but may as well be 14. Am also not a huge fan of '48 Bowmans, but do like them signed.

Still trying to finish off my 1964 Topps Set. I'm down to only 61 cards missing. I thought the Rose would be one my 1st additions but it turned out being one my last. Man, is that card tough to get in NRMT or better at a decent price. The Brock is a little off center but the corners are razor shop and the price was right.

The '64 Topps set has always puzzled me. They did a great job by having the players' hats, mitts, etc., alone break into the white part of the card. A very cool effect. Lou Brock and Pete Rose are perfect examples. But then you have cards like the Billy Williams, whose head falls short of the top border, and you gotta ask why didn't he get the same treatment? If they were worried about the bat sort of interfering, for instance, they could have tilted the picture a little more to allow his hat to effectively cross into the white. I dunno, just some weird design choices.

Thanks. Yes and no. I just look for nice ones when they come available at a decent price. I've been focusing primarily on the 5th & 6th series...

I love the 1971 Topps set and have always liked how they look in a SGC display case with the back on black borders.

That is a set I'd like to complete one day.

I know it is not a card but I am very excited to get this awesome item.

I usually do not collect autographs but when I seen this listed for sale on our great forum I had to buy it. It is from my hometown. I knew we had a minor league team in 1994 but did not know we did from 1965-70. We had a Phillies A ball team from 65-68 and a Cubs A ball team in 69 & 70. Manny Trillo and Greg Luzinski played here in 68 and Rick Reuschel played here in 70. With out finding this great item I might not have ever known about us having minor league teams for those 6 years from 65-70.

My B&L Auction purchase has arrived. This was the lot I was most pleased to get as I didn't have a card from this issue.

Default 1954 Topps Scoop unopened pack

Not sure if you can classify this as non-sports only but there are some sports figures in the set so I posted it here. I went looking for a Ruth and came across this pack. The professionals at GAI labeled as a 1951 but it's a 1954. I have an empty wax box on the way. I would like to build a set in the future along with opening this pack...very tempting.
