Default Ebay Question

Hi. I snagged this at a ridiculously low price:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bridwell-N-Y...p2047675.l2557

I paid right away. An hour later I saw positive feedback was left, but it only said "order cancelled". Can they do that? I know he has a 1 feedback, but aren't there rules about this sort of thing?

They can cancel if there was an error in the listing, which there likely was here as I imagine the seller meant for it to be an opening bid of $0.99 rather than a BIN of $0.99.

It was actually an auction that he ended early. Was going to end tonight.

Oh, sorry, I didn't look closely enough.

Sellers aren't supposed to end auctions early but it happens all the time for a variety of reasons (as does using a second account to buy your own stuff if you don't like the price). I don't think there is much you can do about it.

I'm confused, how did you win it and pay for it if the seller ended it early?

It was an auction set to end around 3 am, That was why I was surprised that I got an email saying I won around 7 pm. Maybe he tried to end listing but they gave him an option to sell at the current bid price?

My guess is that's correct. Any seller can end an auction early at any time with the option to sell to the highest bidder. He/She likely wanted to cancel it outright and either chose the wrong option or it was too close to the auction's end for eBay to allow that.

They likely expected it to have more bids by that time and panicked.
