As I mentioned in my first post, the info I got was that they were offered to the cap company first and all others sent to the cap company were destroyed. THN they went to Tastee Freeze

The only thing on the cup is underneath on the bottom. See:

Thanks Fred. I appreciate the photo - something else to search for. I tend to agree with Larry but who knows at this point

I purchased my first vintage card (58 Topps Mantle) last weekend and this might be the most painful wait for mail... I feel like a 5 year old running to check the mailbox (or shipping notifications) haha

Beautiful, Zach. I hope your eyes enlarge with joy when you catch your first glimpse of your new Mickey. Congratulations, bro. Let us know how you feel about it when you FINALLY get it in the mail!

Haha just arrived and couldn't be happier with first purchase! This one might be a little miscut (thoughts?) but was fairly cheap for the grade. Regardless, I'm hooked and already looking for the next purchase!

I know this is a pickup thread, but, figured I pick all of your collective brains concerning what I'm looking for. I've taken recent interest in the 52 Berk Ross Mantle. It just seems like one of the more affordable options in terms of owning a Mantle from 1952. The only listings I'm seeing for it are from Deans Cards, who from what I've seen from other posts, charges a good amount in terms of a markup. Could anyone maybe ballpark a price for a decent looking (Maybe a PSA 2 or 3) one? At this point it's looking like either a Berk Ross or a 52 Bowman. The 52 Topps is just a little out of my price range at the moment.

Picked up this Mantle recently. It crossed at PSA as a 1 which is what I expected. The color and eye appeal is sharp! No creases.

Congrats Ankur. A holy grail for sure. Well done.
This pales in comparison. A 1968 American Oil. I had to do some research to even find out what it was!

Very nice. As someone that mostly has PSA 1s in my collection, I really appreciate some quality low grade Mantles. Your look fantastic - deserving of the grade but not completely abused, just how old, previously loved cards should be.

Thanks! It’s amazing the range of eye appeal a PSA 1 can have. I’ve taken time to find decent looking examples.

I guess this is a rightful place to put an extremely tough to find oddball Mantle. 1967 Laughlin World Series card with the address on back...

Pretty cool indeed! Nice grade from PSA, but I can't tell from the picture whether all the lines are visible. I've seen too many Bazooka cards with numeric grades (both PSA and SGC) where the card has been cut inside the lines. According to their guidelines, those should only get an "A".

Great! I do have a 66/67 Bazooka Mantle that is a PSA 5. Yet it is cut inside the lines. Should only be an "A". Glad yours is a true 9. A beautiful card indeed!

Meant to drop this in here a few days ago, and forgot about it for some reason.
This is probably the first place I should have placed it.

This is more of an "accumulation" of small pickups over time, and here is the end result.

If you want to know how this came about, I documented most items here in a dedicated thread along the way.

I only have one of the two (the kneeling version), and it is not postmarked—I’d prefer a postmarked version to be honest, but it’s pretty clean (PSA 4).

Did you just get both?

Here's a bit of a before and after Mantle scenario for your perusal.

I bought the 1968 card on the left, because the stain was simply gum or wax residue (in front of his nose and mouth) that I knew could be easily removed with pantyhose if the occasion ever presented itself, so it was worth the price. Fast forward to Bobby's group sub, and I cracked it out and wiped away the schmutz...and it (card on the right) came back a straight PSA 7...

Chris, I have had the batting one for a while. Just got the kneeling. I bid for a raw one that was postmarked three or four years ago on eBay but I ended up an under bidder. I believe Dave Thorn won it and graded it for his auction.
The price was nuts that he got for it, so luckily I was able to get one at a good price.

Nice bump Jollyelm.

Ben, Are you sure those are authentic? They're both missing the pin holes.

Like Chris, I only have the kneeling one. Mine is post marked (Aug. 15, 1969). Mine also has a pin hole.

Like Chris, I only have the kneeling one. Mine is post marked (Aug. 15, 1969). Mine also has a pin hole.
I feel like most of my oddball Mick's have pinholes, tape, tears, and missing or dinged corners Lucked out with these Country Cookin postcards I guess.

I joined Net54 about two and a half years ago after I began building my mid-grade 1952 Bowman set. I found this thread at that time and was looking forward to the day when I had something to contribute to it.

Last week I finally pulled the trigger and picked up that Mantle.

Not only does this fill a gigantic hole in my set, but this is my FIRST Mantle card in my collection. Happy to finally have it.

Great card. Congratulations on the pickup!

I had to look at that picture several times to figure out what was going on. I thought you had a jumbo 52 Topps for a second. Nice run. You should consider a 1954 SI Topps to fill in the gaps a little!

I thought about that (especially since I have the '55 Bowman), but probably won't bother filling out the '50s unless I get his '51 Bowman, which I've just lost interest in pursuing lately.

Had to use my old pic of the '52T since it's now in a safe deposit box, so that made it a jumbo compared to the rest. Maybe I should market it as a new variation that's 1 of 1

Haha, you should. If you want to trade for a regular size one I might be willing to trade in your favor and give you my PSA 1 straight up for that one . 51 Bowman is boring so I don’t blame you.
