Oh the irony, we count down the minutes until the auction opens, it seems an eternity. Then an hour later, we count down the minutes until the auction closes, it seems an eternity.

Rookie bidder, but what is the advantage of placing placeholder bids when you can just look at your watchlist the last day and prioritize what you can afford/want and then bid before it goes into extended bidding?

The earlier you can get your placeholder bids in, the cheaper they are. Technically it shouldn't matter, but it's nice not to have to outbid someone on the last day, which might encourage the top bidder to bid more at the time. I'd rather place my bid early, and then only bid one more time just as the auction is preparing to close. That would be ideal. But, it's all in my head.

There is no advantage to bidding today. I do it because I know they won't hold up, so I might as well get them in. I'll prioritize when I see where the bidding takes them.

What a Auction! The Old Judge selection is just simply amazing. Last REA was overloaded with T210. This one not so much but there is plenty of other stuff to grab ones attention

There are a few reasons, but the most obvious is: In the event that items that are high priority are bid out of my price range during extended bidding, I can shift my bids to other items. If I didn't get the bids in the first place I couldn't do that.

+1. You don't want to do that on the last day before extended bidding because the potential expense or cost could be much higher. Now getting in placeholders is relatively cheap.

True. I'm happy with my girlfriend, but she's not a 1 of 1.

It's always fun to see multiple T206 Plank's / Magie's in the same auction. It was a hoot putting my bids in.
