It always surprises me to see these books sell for so much money. I was under the impression they were secretarially signed and I know several other major autograph collectors feel the same way. Just the prospect of that would keep the value down you would think, but appearantly not. If concrete proof ever comes out that these are not actual Matty signatures, other than the consensus of most people who really know what they are doing, the value would go from $8,000 to about $80-$150 overnight. Too big of a chance for me!

I emailed the seller on the first book he auctioned with the link questioning the authenticity of the signature. Perhaps not surprisingly, I didn't hear back from the seller

Now if someone can find me this book in dust jacket for me, that would really be something.

Interesting LOA. I haven't seen any other links other than this one from autographalert.com. http://www.autographalert.com/2005-3-6.html

Does anyone else have other information on the book's signature authenticity?

The book plate in eBay is not the same as the ones in the R & R and REA auctions. The eBay plate is smaller and the 'Won in the Ninth' goes past the above and below lines. In the R & R and REA the 'Won in the Ninth' ends before the lines end.
