78 Nolan Ryan PSA 10: HOT D@MN!!
i needed this card for my set, however i do not bid in probstein auctions any longer for somewhat obvious reasons, but thank goodness!
i put the over/under @ $7200 and was shocked to see this card rake in $17k+ that's one expensive label! 1978 Nolan Ryan PSA 10

That's just horribly dumb. I can usually give someone the benefit of the doubt for over-paying on a beautiful card but this is just overboard.

What I would like to know is how it got a 10? The non-linear cut on the upper right corner (from the front), the wear on the lower left corner (from the back), and the registry is a bit off (yellow is shifted up). If PSA is doing half grades, this should be a 9.5 at best (IMO).
But I guess that's why I don't by graded cards. Or at least graded cards in this condition.  We all know the mantra re buying the card and not the holder.

But the sticker affixed by some random guy says it's a 10! So it must be the best! LOL.
My money goes to the centered 9.......or better yet the 7! EDIT 2 ADD----- I would rather pay a fatty fat premium over average price for a top top 9 or below than pay whatever the avg is for any 10. Last edited by MetsBaseball1973; 04-27-2015 at 02:19 PM.
