Default OUCH! (HLC packs)

Posted By: Richard Dwyer

If I'm not mistaken all T206 boxes were slide & shell boxes. The only one that wasn't was Polar Bear. (Tobacco Pouch)

Auction ended at US $3,665.54 for 24 unopened pouches. Definately not T206 cards inside. Am I right?

Just noticed the tax stamp and the cellophane. I think I know the answer.

Definately no T206 inside...T206 did not come with the Honest Long Cut brand.
The T205 gold borders came with Honest Long cut brand, however the packs pictured in the Ebay auction are foil packs and do not contain "T" cards.

The winner paid about $150 per pack instead of $1,000-$2,000, the packs are damn nice looking and that display box has to have value.

Your right. Dunno why I put T206.

BTW, I came across a few more slide & shell boxes. (Cycle, Recruits, & another Sweet Caporal)

Default OUCH! (HLC packs)

These are actually the exact packs style-wise that the T-205's came out of. However, these ones are the wrong year. All of these packs have been overprinted with 1914. In response to a couple of the posts above. HLC did package T-205's in these tobacco packs, not slide and shell's. The packs pictured have no cellophane - maybe the picture from eBay is misleading. Finally, the HLC packs that contained the T-205's did have a foil lining. If anyone is intersted, I have a HLC pack with a 1911 overprint - the exact from the T-205 issue. I tried to post the picture here but Network54 never seems to let me post. I even shrunk it down to under 10kb's so go figure! Needless to say, in size, style, and appearance, my 1911 and these 1914's are identical. However, none of these packs will contain a T-205...

I can vouch that Jon's description of what the HLC packs look like that contained t205s, as that is what I had the pleasure of opening back in 1982. When I saw the picture, I thought I was looking at one of the same case that we opened. One of my great regrets after selling off my collection was not keeping at least one t205 that I pulled from the packs. I had 37, and that was the start of my t205 set.
