Default Fathers and Daughters

The Father's Day thread made me think about my daughters. I have no sons. I'm sure many out there also have daughters. There is a special bond between father and daughters. Being as I was raised only with a brother, I believe it would be different with a son. Daughters bring out the best in a father. Some bumps along the way. Here is me and 2 of my daughters, the oldest one with me at Univ Of Miami Football game(were both big fans) and me and my youngest.
Have a great father's day.

Happy Father's Day. Beautiful daughters.

I'm filled with gratitude on Father's Day. I appreciate every little bump and bruise and realize it is a moment to be in the present.

Thanks for the reminder. Happy Father's Day to all...

Default Fathers & Daughters

Joe
Your Daughters are beautiful.....and well said....."Daughters bring out the best in a father."

Daughters are a treasure growing up....as teenagers, they can be a handful....as parents, they are simply delightful.
At a very young age, I taught Debbie and Zoe to play tennis and took them to many BB games at Yankee Stadium.

Zoe saw Mickey Mantle hit his last HR at Yankee Stadium (Old Timer's Day game Summer of 1973). Debbie met Derek
Jeter recently, and had a really nice conversation with him.

Circa 1977, my daughters were collecting BB cards, and they motivated me to get back into the hobby.

We have got one of each, so I got the full buffet. A lot of sports, a lot of music and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have been many things in my life and the thing I like best of all is being a dad.

Great thread, and I am happy to add a photo of my daughter, Alysia, and me on opening day (2012) at the Phillies. Alysia, who shares her mother's beauty, traveled from her home in Des Moines to join her father for the start of the new season. Her brother Brent was envious, but we only have two seats!

Cheers, Mike

Very heartwarming thread. My wife and I are blessed with two young sons (2&4). We have been tossing around the idea of trying for a girl. I feel like I might be missing out on an entirely different set of emotions and experiences if I only raise boys. Of course, if we keep trying for a girl we might end up with a baseball team full of boys.

The greatest joy in my life is my 2 year old elizabeth this is my first child and hope to have 1 more hopefully a boy but another girl would be just as good. I remember going to the dr so they could tell me the sex of the child and i was told it was going to be a boy and was so excited but went and had one of those 3d photos taken and it was a girl and i was bumbed for about 2 seconds but would not trade her for anything in the world. elizabeth is the light of my life and when i feel down i can look at her and see her smile and just makes everything ok.

A little late, but no one's got girls as cute as mine . I don't care if I am biased. Pictures a couple years old though.

The sad thing is they grow up and move away but their love endures. This is my youngest in the basketball tournament against a team from Texas years ago. She was a prolific scorer but tore her ACL her junior year and didn't play in college. 13 years later she finally married (two months ago) and is the Mission Director for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. We are very proud of this kid who was smart enough to grab first pick from Dad's collection when he passes away and chose the autographed Mathewson ball
My oldest daughter appeared on the front page of the Kansas City Star in 1981 with Joe DiMaggio. It was a huge and beautiful picture of Joe handing her an autographed baseball. It hangs in my man-cave lol. She is married and has two wonderful children, my grandson and granddaughter.
I used to regret never having a son but both were and are beautiful kids, presidents of their classes in schools, intelligent, compassionate, were in homecoming courts and yet excelled in sports. The two most wonderful kids imaginable. I never regret that they were not boys, they have made my life special.

I've added 10 years, but no hair.
Corporate softball is my daughter's only hobby connection.

Default children are the best!

Awesome thread! Hoping you all had a great Fathers Day.
Here I am with our 2 daughters and our grand-daughter.
This was taken Father's Day when they took me to brunch.
Our oldest is an MD, so I feel "extra safe" around her.
Regards,

I have several pics I wanted to post but the board won't upload them still. Never used to have these problems before for any pics till lately.

Kade is doing good and making progress. Every day is a struggle not knowing if something is going to go awry during the day. Melody has lost her 2 fron teeth and is asking for more cards all the time. I think we have another addict for our meetings And I am only partially sain anymore

I am an admitted WORKAHOLIC and was almost never home as my daughters grew up. Only in the last many months did I realize what a mistake this was. One Christian friend told me that it was an inderect message to me to stop(from God). Cutting out sleep and working at odd hours if necessary to have some time with my last remaining daughter. I may be one of the few, but I definitely made this mistake. I love my daughter very much. She is precious to me. She has shown me so much in the last few months. I would not trade this time for anything. It has made me realize what a daddy should be. He should be a loving support, an honest and strong person for his daughter. He should never let her down. He should do everything he can for her. I hope my dauhter forgives me for all the time I missed being with her when she was younger.
I realize that her future in large part depends on me. I know she has other interests at this age but hope she will continue to do things with me.

Here is my remaining daughter. We have just finished shopping for her since she did so well in school. She took one of her extended arm shots. She seems happy.

All the years I missed.

I appreciate anybody who added in their stories.
