Pennant pickups have been very slow for me lately. Just have not seen much that fits my niche.
The 49ers is missing one tassel, but the cost to me was only about half of what a 4 tassel version sold for on ebay last week (about $400... and that one had a stain). I'm thinking about using the small piece of the 4th tassel that is left to fill in the missing white in the spine. Just set it in. Or I may leave it alone. My pennant collection started with Santa Clara about 30 years ago. Just when I thought I'd seen every Santa Clara pennant, this new (to me) one shows up. Glad to add it. And it provides the type of intermittent reinforcement that behavioral science tells us is such a potent predictor of behavior. And thanks to all my Net54 friends who send me links when a new Santa Clara pennant shows up somewhere. |

That has to be Rick Haskins's set-up, right? What a hobby treasure he is!

He had these Jimmie Hall and Bob Allison pennants for sale. I bought the Allison pennant because it was in much better condition. I haven't seen either of them before |

Just look at the spine. Common sense dictates that a stiff cardboard-like spine with perfectly straight rows of stich holes emanates from the 1970s or newer. Contrast that with a soft felt spine with slightly wavy/curved rows of stitching that indicate pre-1960s. The imperfect stitching is a tell-tale sign that some overworked seamstress performed the task, as opposed to a post 1970 automated system. |

I know the Orioles and Indians come up every once in a great while...but had never seen the Yankees. Apparently all from the same funky series. Anyone seen any other teams from it?

I like them. I own a purple variant of the Orioles funky pennant. I've never seen the other 2.
We have another mystery manufacturer. |

Hello all. Can anyone give me some info on this Reds mini? Era, manufacturer, value. Need to sell but have no info.
Thanks in advance, Tony |
VERY minimal value. :(

A $15 pennant (tip issues). It's nice to find an ebay seller (and Net54 member) who realizes his item isn't the Holy Grail. My other purple one is monochromatic and has spine issues.

I decided to "save" this torn and battered Seals pennant from ebay. Nothing too drastic. Just some very light fabric glue to keep the torn areas from getting larger and replacement vintage trench tassels for the bottom (also light fabric glue). I also have a damaged red/maroon one with the the player names written on the graphics. I can't seem to find a clean version.
It's strange to me that the green felt has faded so much (the back is much darker green) while the pink paint under the Seal has not. |
Very nice, Marc. Green NYG pennants always seem to be faded.

Some new arrivals today. The 1978 WS pennant is a little incongruous against the others but I love it.

Not UKGary quality, but I just picked this up. Cedar Rapids was the Giants' affiliate from 1975-79. Notable alumni included Bob Brenley and Chili Davis. Rob Deer also played there...he went on to hit 11 HR's with the Giants and 219 elsewhere. What's interesting about this pennant (to me at least) is that I have 15 SF pennants with this basic design (in white, black and orange) but SF never used the white outlined ball on any of those 15.

Recent pickup, a good friend tipped me off to this for sale. Tassels are continuous loops, I have seen this before with an Athletics pennant from the same time period. Clearly a different maker than the "B.B.C." Senators above it.
|
That's a really nice pennant, Greg.

Wow, sure looks like a Repco-inspired pennant. But I don't think it's by them--it's just not printed as well as your Senators/BBC pennant, also from ca. 1913.

The hits have been few and far between lately but what nicer way to break out of a slump than with a home run.
