I also expected more Aaron rookies to be posted yesterday. Mine was definitely the lowest grade, but I bought it over 20 years ago so I don't think I paid much for it back then compared to what it would cost me today.

Bauer earned two purple hearts and two bronze stars in the war. Not only looked tough, he was tough. Once had a hit in 17 straight World Series games. In 1959 Bauer, Larsen and Marv Thronberry were traded to KC for Roger Maris and Kent Hadley. That trade indirectly resulted in 2 of the 3 toughest and most expensive Topps cards from 1960

Was born in Italy and roomed with his fellow "bonus baby" Al Kaline for his first two years. Under the MLB rules beginning in 1954 if player was signed with a bonus of $ 4000 or more they had to stay on the major league roster for 2 years. That worked fine for Kaline who was ready to go, but not for Reno who need more time for development

Branch Rickey once predicted that Hogue would have one of the best curve balls in baseball if he could ever control it. He never did. Cal became a plumber after baseball

Got into a fight with Eddie Stankey during a game and both were taken to jail but returned before game was over. As mentioned in the 53 Bowman thread he was once ejected in a game for wearing a raincoat in the on deck circle

Although he homered in his first at bat he had been booed when introduced since he was replacing the popular Enos Slaughter who the Cardinals had just traded to the Yankees. Nickname as a kid was Booger. NL Rookie of the year in 1954 over Aaron and Banks. An Aggie with a masters degree

9 seasons , 341 ABs, 175 hits, 6 HRs and 99 RBIs. Wonder if he ever had that gap in his teeth fixed. Wonder if there is version of his 54 card without it
