And with todays mail…….1964 topps second set is completed…..fun set. One of my favorites or could just be the orange backs. Final card……Mr Pete rose….
Getting close to finishing off 1966 topps seconds set……only 5 cards away |
56 Topps
I'm 58 cards away from finishing '56 Topps in raw, low grade. I posted about this on one of the BST forums too, but if anyone out there has low-grade 56T that you'd be willing to trade or sell, then I'd love to swing a deal.

I'm plowing through a 1939 Play Ball set. I'm down to just six of the low numbers before I start on the high numbers. Of course two that I need are DiMaggio and T. Williams.
It's been interesting how easy it is to find the stars, but commons are often really tough to find, and for no real apparent reason. Why am I having trouble finding a Goody Rosen or Fred Sington at a price that isn't insane? |
Question for those of you that have multiples of sets from the same year - do you cull the best cards out and put those in one set and let the other have the leftovers (a high grade set and a lower grade set) or do you just let the cards fall where they may?
I've got two or three sets from some years in the 1970s and thought about putting the nicer cards together in one set, but it just seems like a long, boring night(s) to wade through thousands of cards, comparing each one. |

Have you tried PastPros for trying to get that elusive autograph. If you contact them and let them know you are interested in them, they have a great network in trying to get ahold of folks in the Caribbean to track them down. Just a thought!! Andy |

I am roughly 70% complete for my 1966 O-pee-chee baseball set. Extremely tough as I am trying to achieve the set in Ex/Mt or higher. Thankfully it is only 196 cards but still has the stars.....Mantle, Mays, Palmer RC, etc.

Andy, nice card. Also a nice set to go after.

I am down to 10 cards to complete my mid grade 1952 Topps set. All the cards are recently graded examples after PSA changed their grading standards. Is it me or is a 4 the go to grade from PSA on vintage cards these days?

1966 topps 2nd set completed…….final card….mr Palmer rc.
one of my top sets…..really fun….nothing hard. I might try to do a 3rd set down the road but it would be from mostly trading my extras cards of………(61,62,64,66,67,68,68,70,71,72) |

I was able to cross six cards off my '53 Topps set while at the Chantilly show and also add this '54B Mays to my working set. Now just two to go on the '54B.

Nice looking Mays Tom.

1966 Topps Set
Got the final card in the mail today for my 1966 Topps set, #589 Klimchock. I like the look of the 66 set with the clean fronts. Now on to the 1967 set. I'm only 18 cards short but 15 of those are the dreaded high numbers.

Some updates on sets I am working on;
1961 Fleer Pennant Decals - Have 46 of 48 so just 2 more to go. 1965 Topps Transfers Inserts - Just crossed the halfway mark. 37 of the 73 (including both Hunt variations) Slower and more expensive than I anticipated. 1972 Fleer Quiz Cards - Picked up 3 of the white version recently. This brings my total to 25 different white ones. I think there are 28 different so 3 more to go. Attachment 677150 Mike |

Wow, I guess that I’ve been away from the forum longer than I thought. Looking back on this thread there are some really great sets being completed. Congrats to those who have completed sets.
I’m still plugging away at my 1959 Topps baseball. I really thought that I would be done by now, but life happens and things just don’t seem to go the way you intended. Hopefully I get the last 4 cards by the end of the year. |
