Agreed. Pitchers are generally second fiddle in the hobby. Chicks dig the long ball.
Even among pitchers, Lefty gets overlooked. His decade-plus media silence kept him largely out of the spotlight. As difficult as it for some people to imagine, Steve Carlton flatly refused to give interviews. This likely diminished his popularity outside of Philadelphia. Lucky for me, I grew up in Philly during Carlton's time there.
Candidly, I don't want people to look at his accomplishments more closely...at least, not until after I've finished this little run. :D |
