Picked these 2 up this past week, I have never seen a 1941 signed Rizzuto Double Play for sale before, so I purchased it immediately.

Got this beautiful Theodore Roosevelt signed Naval Commission. It was prepared by another hand, and signed boldly by President Roosevelt. It was evidently never finished, as it's not co-signed by the Secretary of the Navy., nor have the paper seal attached. Stellar Teddy piece.

Been a bit busy this month
 

April has been a busy month for me, mostly in person football items.
Here are a couple of Baseball items I've been hesitant on buying due to cost but finally pulled the trigger on these:D

Old and New. So I visited mymothers home and pulled out some stuff from boxes I haven't seen in years and forgot I had. So they are old, but new again.

Prints of a Willard Mullin Drawing of the NY Giants and Dodgers Mascots. Signed by 3 deceased Dodgers. The photo was originally published in Sport Magazine.
I would consider selling this one as I have one in the 1958 Sport Magazine(I showed this one below)

Thanks. I have seen a couple signed snapshots of his. He seems to have been a pretty good signer.

A couple of pick ups :
1. A check signed by Ralph Kiner on a Kiner's Korner check
2. An envelope signed by Bucky Harris with his full name of Stanley Harris. Not that rare of a signature but uncommon in this first name, not nickname, form.

Those Giants snapshots are really neat . What a great item to have in your collection.
Also like the autographed photo of the 1954 Indians pitching rotation...not a bad staff to have on your team. Imagine what they could do today as well as what they would be earning per year.

I love that Greenberg! I am reading a book on him right now he's one of the most underrated players of all time.

I have acquired 4 or 5 1932 Los Angeles Olympic autograph books the last few years. Without fail, they were all male athletes. I recently acquire my first one that was almost all female competitors. It was even better as all but two of the pages were single sided and the two that were not have less significant signatures on the back. They were collected by a woman named Mrs. Douglas. Finding period signatures of female competitors is much less common than those of male athletes of that era. The signatures include:

Babe Didrickson and Dorothy Poynton (-Hill) – Signed by Babe about a month after turning 21. Poyton won 2 golds, a silver and a bronze in diving in 1932 and 1936 Berlin.

Georgia Coleman – won four medals in diving 1928 Amsterdam and 1932 Los Angeles including gold. Died of polio in 1940 at the age of 28

Helene Mayer – German fencer. Won a gold in 1928 and silver in 1936. She was a world champion and many time German champion. Kicked out of her fencing club in 1933 because she was half Jewish. She moved to the U.S. With threats of an Olympic boycott she was invited to compete for Germany in 1936. She was the only German Jewish participant in 1936, the token athlete. She gave the Nazi salute during the medal ceremony which brought her much criticism. She remained in the U.S. until 1952 when she returned to Germany, married a German baron and died of breast cancer a year later.

Tidye Pickett – the first black female to compete for the U.S. She was an alternate in 1932. She competed in 1936, but did not medal.

Endre Kabos – one of the great Hungarian fencers and one of two male signatures in the book. He won 3 gold medals and one silver medal between 1932 and 1936. He was Jewish and sent to the concentration camp in Vax, Hungary. Recognized by one of the guards as an Olympic champion he was made a driver for the Germans. He was driving an ammunitions truck across the Margaret Bridge between Buda and Pest in 1944 when it was blown up by Hungarian resistance fighters. He either died in the explosion or drowned.

Stanislava Walasiewicz aka Stella Walsh – moved to the U.S. from Poland in 1913, but still competed for her homeland. She won the 100m dash in 1932 and finished second in 1936. She was shot and killed by muggers in Cleveland in 1980. An autopsy revealed she had mixed internal sexual organs (gynandromorphism).

I couldn't resist grabbing this gorgeous signature. I think I will have it professionally framed and hang it right next to my 1951 Mickey Mantle auto.

Vintage signed Jesse Haines
 

I recently picked up this 1932 vintage fountain pen signed album page cut of HOF no-hit pitcher Jesse Haines.

Although Jesse Haines autographs are not rare, it's fairly uncommon to find a playing day autograph of him. I've been waiting to find a nice one and this will do the trick. ;)

Just back from Sandy Koufax private signing with Sandy's agent
 

Recently Internet Exclusives (Sandy Koufax's personal agent) announced that Mr. Koufax was going to do a rare private sit down signing limited to 75 items.

Well, I bit the bullet and decided to get my full, unused tickets from Koufax's 1st and 2nd no-hitter games (in 1962 and 1963) signed.

Additionally, I added Mr. Koufax to an ongoing project that I've been working on completing since 2006. It is a program from an event in NYC that commemorated the 50th anniversary of Don Larsen's historic World Series Perfect Game in 1956. Mostly all of the living perfect game pitchers were in attendance.

Technically I still need to get HOF'er Randy Johnson and Kenny Rogers to sign it to complete the project, however I'm not sure if The Big Unit was in attendance. The Gambler (Kenny Rogers) was not as he was pitching in the Tigers ill-fated World Series against the St. Louis Cards.

Anyway, here is how they turned out for those of you that care to look.
Note the marked difference in the quality of Sandy's 2015 sit down signature compared to some of the sigs that originated at spring training this year.
From what I have seen, many of these are mostly illegible, but these are obviously a different animal as they are scribbled very quickly over a railing...

Great pick up on the vintage Jesse Haines autograph. That playing era signature is a rarity.

I enjoy picking up "playing days" autographs. Chris Short was a very underated pitcher for the Phillies. His tragic death at the age of 52 makes his autograph difficult to find.

So happy to get this. 1941 team signed Lou Finney half bat with Doerr, Cronin, Grove, Berg, Foxx and Williams from his .406 season. I have always wanted an item signed in 1941 by Williams.

I saw this same bat at a card show at the Enfield Square Mall in Enfield, CT in the late 80's, probably 1988. I remember it because it stopped me in my tracks when I saw it. And I always wondered what happened to it. Very nice pickup.

Thanks John. I would not have paid what I did pay for a team signed ball. The fact that it is a bat means more to me because of the '41 Williams autograph. There cannot be very many team signed bats for the Red Sox from that year. Just could not resist.

Apollo 11 from REA earlier today. This is the 2nd time I've owned that exact same Neil Armstrong piece. I wasn't really in the market for one, but I thought it was too good a deal to pass up. First time I've ever owned the Apollo 11 crew at the same time :)
