Ugh, if it's just one, I'll go with a mint Baltimore News Ruth.
I was also tempted to pick either the E107 Mathewson in street clothes, or the same pose found on a W600 cab, both jaw dropping cards. |
Dream Card
My dream card to own would be a T206 Cobb with a Ty Cobb back. I actually got to hold one once at a dealer's table at a National years ago, actually he made me come behind the table to hold it! Don't blame him.:D

If someone was giving me one free card of my choosing I'd obviously take the PSA 8 Wagner or psa 10 52 Mantle. But if I had to sell everything to buy 1 card I'd probably go with the nicest Ruth rookie I could afford. Or a 14 CJ Jackson.

If money's not an object I'd take the top one. In the realm of things I could maybe afford but might have to wait a very long time for, the bottom one.

mindreader! I might add the Wagner scrap:) |
1914 Baltimore News Ruth (not picky about either color) :D
distant second would be any of the early 1890s Cy Young Cabinets (again, not picky about which one)... |

Definitely a 1914/15 CJ cobb

It would be easy to say the Wagner or a '52 Mantle but if I'm being honest I would probably go for a really ridiculously high-grade 1914 Cracker Jack Cobb or Jackson. Those cards are so beautiful. Ah well, seeing as my wife is going to be loathe to let me take out a 2nd mortgage on our house to pay for a single baseball card anytime in the next 40-50 years...back to reality I guess. :p

Yes you have taste like mine:)
great choices! I wouldn't mind a BN ruth either:) |
If I could have any one card, I would want it to be something unique, something I wouldn't just be able to buy if I had the money. Lets face it, if you hit the lottery you could have a T206 Wagner or PSA 8 (or possibly higher) 52 Topps Mantle by the end of the week. A BN Ruth might fit my criteria, but has never really appealed to me, so would probably take the Just So Cy Young.

Clint-I have two copies of Golden Giants cabinets. One strangely has an image of a battlefield on the back. I might free one up (oldjudge@gmail.com) for the right deal.

The most expensive card in the world (at any given time) so I could pay off my house, give the kids full boat to a good college and retire to buy and sell more cards just for fun! Oh, and move somewhere when it never gets colder than 70 degrees and almost never rains (continental US only).
That's not asking too much is it? ;) |
1) Any Old Judge that features Old Hoss Radbourn sneakily flipping off the photographer (with nice contrast so the finger is hilariously clear)- and I'm not an Old Judge guy!

If you could own one baseball card, what would it be?
Hey Johnny V
Your question here is somewhat unclear. Anyhow, for 30+ years my ultimate goal was to acquire a T206 Plank. Especially, when I attained 467 cards in my all-SWEET CAPORAL Factory #30 set, which comprises of 469 cards. I searched for a Plank with a tough to find SWEET CAP 150 Factory #30 back. Also, one that would be consistent with the overall grade (Vg-Ex) of the 467 cards in this set. I'm happy to say that this story has a happy ending. http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...nkSC150x30.jpg . http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...SC150x30xb.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |
Great card, Ted. Why is it an A? Does the back have some kind of residue on it?
btw, I guess if I could have one card it might be a BN Ruth...or a few others :) Quote:

A W572 Barbare. Then at least I know it actually exists. (W572 Duncan would be second - but SGC graded one, so I assume they got it right and the card exists).
|
Ted!
I was so glad when you got that!:)
I'm talking about a card you don't already have....the dream card.....the card that seems pretty much out of reach either through rarity, cost, ect... example Balty Ruth, 206 Wagner, Doyle National, psa 10 mantle... |
So many good options here. But most of them would require that I follow up the getting of this dream card with an investment in storage, security, and insurance. With that in mind, if I could only have one card, I'd like to get the same Alan Trammell/Paul Molitor 1978 Topps Rookies card I had when I was a kid. I sold it in 1993ish and have since gotten another one that might even be in better condition, but it would be fun to have that original one I owned as my one card.
