SGC has been making a huge move on later 2022 and recent 2023 releases to take advantage of PSA backlog and establish themselves more firmly in the ultra-modern market. SGC has run some really consumer-friendly promos on the newer stuff lately. Their 2022 Bowman Chrome special was a huge run for $9/card. PSA is still king of volume by a lot, but SGC wants a bigger piece. |

For example, I had a modern submission at the economy level that was about a month door to door. Just sent it in January, so it’s pretty recent history. |
Moved to grading today....that was fast.

Wow!! Sure was.

I have learned to have the patience of Job in dealing with PSA.

Bobby and I talked a few hours ago. He told me this submission group’s grades just popped. However, work has him bogged down. He hopes to post the grades later today - around 2:00 pm (EST). Bobby said the grades really surprised him. He thought PSA assessed some generous grades. Hope all my grades exceed expectations. Good luck to everyone. Bobby, thanks for doing these submission groups, and for all your hard work.
|
Awesome. I have low expectations for my submissions, but I paid a price for the raw cards appropriate for a PSA 1.5 - 2 type return. That makes the chance of a random "authentic" knock a bit easier to stomach if that happens. If i break through a PSA 2 on either, wow, bonus.
They're just a couple pieces for my graded Cubs notables/greats/legends. Appreciate the chance to get into the group sub and I really appreciate the work of bobbyw8469/Robert. Thanks. |
Thanks, appreciate the update and thank, Bobby, for all your work!!
|
PSA just called me with some bad news. Unfortunately, they have misplaced the box. This marks the 2nd time they have lost one of my orders. I will get back with everyone later. They pay out at what the declared values were at the time of submission.

Grrrrreaaaat. Fun stuff

April fools joke…..that’s too easy!
|
Unbelievable. I go from praising PSA’s quick turnaround time and allegedly assigning great grades to cursing its incompetence in losing our package. What a flipping rollercoaster ride. Uhh.
|
They have a habit of doing this every April 1st!!!
|
So which one is the April Fool's joke? That PSA already graded the cards or that they're lost? Or both?

I got a call yesterday they destroyed one of my cards taking it out of the holdver, so anything is possible

Now I'm disappointed and relieved. Well done! I'll go back to hoping we'll get them by the summer.
|
There is a bit of unintended tranquility in that April Fools' prank. (Well done, Bobby!!)
Everyone's visceral reaction of, "NO EFFIN' WAY!!!!!!!! THEY LOST MY FRICKIN' CARDS?????????!!!!!!!!!!!", will now be replaced by a feeling of being extremely fortunate that nothing went wrong. The end result? When the cards do finally come back with waaaaay lower numbers than they should've gotten, we will all be able to accept it more easily, as we'll just be happy that they didn't lose our stuff. A little pre-easing of our pain, if I may 'Field of Dreams' it. |
I just had fed ex lose a package, first time for everything! The say I signed for it, meanwhile I was out front at the specified time. Never had issues with usps.
We have an over/under yet on poppage? Before June. ;) |

The last couple of large(ish) vintage submissions that I submitted have lingered for multiple weeks at each of those stages. Maybe there was something that went wrong with my submissions that was unique to just my pieces, and they had to fix it. Or maybe those processes are just a bigger bottleneck now. |
I experienced some movement while the orders were not showing up. However, mine is all pre 60s
|
Every time this post get bumped I get excited, then I get disappointed.
Also, popping onto websites at 3am on April Fools day leads to shame and disappointment. I'm being straight up emotionally whipped by this thread. |
For what it's worth, I submitted around 30 cards (mostly 1952 Topps) per PSA's pre-1989 deal around the beginning of February and got them back the last week of April.

Mine was a group of 20 1952 Topps cards that I thought would mostly grade as 6's; got back one 3.5, eleven 4's, one 4.5 and seven 5's. Pretty disappointing. |

My sub of 1954s and 52s was finished submitted a week after the group sub. Grades were horrible, just get us our cards graded PSA! we need something else to complain about aside from wait times:confused:

My vintage bulk sub which arrived at PSA on 2/24 moved to the Assembly stage today. So I'm guessing this order will be moving soon as well.
|
One can hope. It's like riding the slow boat to China.
|
Noting for timeline reference: mine moved from Assembly to QA1 today
|
My vintage sub moved pretty fast. Went from QA1 yesterday through QA2 and now shipped today. So hopefully, your guys' order will have a similar timeline. Good luck all.
|
I have two subs with them now.
# 1 Arrived on 03/02 and to grading on 03/09 # 2 Arrived on 03/14 and to grading on 03/29 I think these were some type of special at $15.00 per card $199.00 value. So both are in grading right now. Hope that the longer wait is good news for the grades. Bob |

Hopefully you guys get better results on your subs than I got on mine. I got absolutely murdered on my submission. Had multiple SGC 7, 8, and 8.5 crossovers (all of which were cracked out) all get at least 2 full grades lower at PSA. And these were recently graded SGC cards too from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Very easy cards to grade.
About half my order has fair/accurate grades. The other half are low, a quarter of which are a full 2 to 3 grades low. Basically everything that was legit high grade got 6s or 5s. The strange thing is that a lot of my EXMT cards also got 6s. It's like they couldn't differentiate between 6s, 7s, and 8s. Two of the 70 cards received generous grades. Good luck all! And since every thread needs a card, here's one that's over graded and one that's under graded from my recent submission. |
Update on my submissions:
# 1 Arrived on 03/02 and to grading on 03/09 # 2 Arrived on 03/14 and to grading on 03/29.....To assembly on 06/02/23.....This sub has some decent N28's and lower grade T206's along with some should be 10's of 1987 OPC hockey stars. Not sure why my Sub # 2 went to assembly when the Sub # 1 was to grading 20 days earlier. |
We have moved to assembly.
|
Welp, better than nothing!

Yea!! Movement. Bobby, I also put 4 football in the mail today.
|
Sounds like Mid-July to get to the finish line, assuming zero unscheduled excitement in the interim.
|
Moved to QA Check #1.
