T206 Ty Cobb Red Portrait 350/460/25 PSA 4.5

2 Attachment(s)
Recent add. While others were going for garters, I was eyeing this 350-460/25 rarer beauty. Pop 3, only 5 higher.

calvindog 10-05-2023 11:48 AM

That's some Cobb 4.5 It would like good in a 6 holder.

Nice Cobb Red port Brian. Picked these 3 Gehrigs up not long ago. Inexpensive, rare, small, & fun

Thats why i needed it. I have never cracked and resubmitted a higher value/middle grade card such as this. Is it worth it? PSA? SGC?

Snuck this one in before I cut myself off until my consigned items all sell at auction next month

It is my 5th ad back in the 1916 run and I had not seen this ad back for many years

Not the prettiest Ruth, but I’m happy I finally snagged his rookie card.

Wow! Some monster Jackson and Ruth pick-ups, congrats to all.

Super happy to have acquired this card for my west coast type collection.

1888 N338-1 SF Hess California League. About 20 known examples exist so right up there with Hens Teeth.

When Lew Lipset's The Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards Volume 1 - 19th Century Cards was published in 1983, he noted that S. F. Hess California League cards "must rate with Four Base Hits as the rarest of the 19th century photographic cards."

At that time only sixteen cards in the set were known to exist, including eleven different in the Burdick Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Four new additions to the set have been discovered since.

This is one of them.

Wow, this is going to cause my image as a hater of the opinion sellers to take a hit, but I must admit that the shaped holder inside the slab is pretty impressive on those BF3 pennants.

Looks way better than the recent post about an item being pinched in the side of the slab.

Good ol' Buck Barker didn't do his famous stats scribble on many T206s, so it's fun to find one once in awhile .................. ;)

Attachment 592256

Base Ball Reference shows no indication he played for KC; other teams/seasons correct. Also like how Fritz' middle name was completed later in the red ink ........ :)

Oh, and Fritz did have Major League experience -- He pitched 3 innings for the Athletics in 1907 ....... :p

Fun, fun, Scott

A true bucket list card for me. I've wanted one of these for as long as I can remember, probably for 45 years. This completes my retirement gifts to myself. Thank you to Scott Brockelman.

Vintagecatcher 10-07-2023 10:05 PM

Congrats Paul!

Congrats Paul on the Casey Stengel T210!

Patrick

Casey2296 10-07-2023 10:22 PM

Nice Paul, somehow I think your retirement pick ups aren't done though.

paul 10-07-2023 10:23 PM

Thank you Patrick and Phil. I'm truly on cloud 9 about getting this card.

Congrats on getting your bucket list card and on your retirement. There was fierce bidding on the T210s last night, so it's great you could win one. I was not even close on the ones I was bidding on.

Not a big card, but picked up a 60 Clemente off a board member at a small show in the Dallas area this weekend!

My first dip into vintage that is not T206. I feel like the dam just burst open into a new world I haven’t experienced and it’s awesome

Brockelman Win

A very cool addition to my small but growing collection of T-card oddities:
