No longer having the Wagner and never collecting much of Ruth I am light, but I will add a few of mine. Had to use a Rogers Peet Catalog with Ruth on the cover(only one known).

Incredible that all these cards when released cost just about as little $ as candy!

What a great thread. I've gone back through it multiple times to admire such a group of cards. Thanks to all who have shared.

My contribution.

Here's a few more from the E98 set, always thought the set would be better with a Johnson card.

Great thread. Here's a grouping of some of my favorites: (dont have a Wagner anything, so I subbed Cy Young, who should've been in in 1936 in the first place)
  • Christy Mathewson Testimonial Program
  • Babe Ruth Sanella Margarine and matching vintage news photo
  • Walter Johnson T206 portrait
  • Cy Young tobacco tin
  • Ty Cobb game-used bat (1925-1928 labeling period)

My little group of the First Five seems quite modest if compared to what you guys have posted... Neat thread idea, and GREAT cards!

Little curveball, but here is a photo of 5 of the first 6 predominantly Negro Leaguers who were inducted into the HOF. They played together on the 1934 Pittsburgh Crawfords. Buck Leonard who played for the Homestead Grays was in the first 5, but Charleston was better, so I am giving him the extra credit. This photo was taken in Yankee stadium by a famous photographer from Harlem James VanDerZee.

Paige 1971
Gibson 1972
Papa Bell 1974
J Johnson 1975

This is the single most aesthetically pleasing group of cards I’ve ever seen. Just add a CJ Joe Jackson as honorable mention.

George, I'm lovin' your spectacular group of Orange Borders cards. If you are looking for a Big Train card that would fit in nicely with your Orange Borders cards, I suggest WaJo's 1911 Baseball Bats card:

I agree...those borders are orange enough to earn a honorary degree at the Orange Border University, Citrus Annex. And after checking out the fantastic Old Cardboard gallery of the Baseball Bats set, it looks like there are orange border Baseball Bats versions of Cobb, Mathewson and Wagner as well, but I think they are pretty darn scarce.

Great orange edged cards Val and George...you guys are Orange Crushing it!

Brian, if you aren't a professional comedian of some sort, you may have missed your calling in life! :D
