wow, amazing piece Craig!

Great cards Jim!
The only other Chicago cards I have are the ones I got from Pat Chan on the T206museum. Cobb Gold Port with a pretty standard Brown Piedmont, and Cobb Fielding with a little tougher "Apple" green Uzit. http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn...titled-1_1.jpg |
This thread has made me so jealous...if anyone wants to offer up some of their Chicago rare backs give me a shout!
I do have these ones... :) I'm working on my Walsh sets! http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...hT206Front.jpghttp://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...shT206Back.jpghttp://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...hSovereign.jpghttp://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...ereignBack.jpghttp://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...WalshHindu.jpghttp://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...hHinduBack.jpg |

Finally! Have not been able to post this because I've been traveling with no access to my scan files. But here it is - one of the rare moments I can participate in a thread that involves a city other than Detroit.

I NEED that apple green Uzit for my collection-I know this is not the bst but can you make an exception....:D
|
Joann
very cool-can I ask what year? any link to Virginia Brights?
|
Congratulations, Jim, on your acquisition of one of the "crown jewels" of the Hobby, the uncorrected "Uzit Cobb Chicago Amer. Cubs on Jersey". I understand that there are fewer than eight copies extant, a true rarity indeed. Great pickup!
|
LOL David I was wondering when someone would catch it..:)
|
|
Thanks Jim. For some reason, my instant thinking on the year is 1904 - but I don't know quite why I think that. I"ll pull it out later and look.
Either way, no connection with the VB's or Sub Rosa groups. This team played quite a bit later than those issues, and the VB/SR's were posed models and not actual players. J |
Wow Joann, I didn't realize the VBs/SRs were posed models-learn something new everyday.
Always wanted a VB for a type but have not added one to my collection yet. Thanks for sharing...:D |

Ok he did not play for any Chicago teams but he is the founder, owner of the Chicago White Sox, Built Comiskey park and helped steer the Western League to become the American League in 1900 and make it pro in 1901.
