On 8/15/93 Nolan Ryan faced off against starting pitcher Jose' Mesa and the hometown Cleveland Indians.

This lineup card is an awesome complimentary piece to a number of items from Nolan's last win that I have in my advanced Ryan collection.

I own Nolan's complete uniform from his last win as well as a game used ball and signed ultra-scarce Indian's loge box ticket and scored program to this game.

As always Scott,great stuff!!

Awesome slide, Phil! It doesn't hurt that the photo was shot at historic (and 100 year old as of last Wednesday) Wrigley Field- The Friendly Confines.

Congrats on your pickup!

And shot by a well-known photographer, Lee Balterman, who did some work for Sports Illustrated but is probably better known for his non-sports photography. Nice pick-up!

A full page Willie Keeler from Police Gazette. I haven't been able to research the date, but it's between 1903 & 1909.

Frank Bancroft

According to the description, this is supposed to be Frank Bancroft and another player from the 1914 tour of American and National League Stars that Bancroft put together. The guy on the right (as you look at it) could be Bancroft, from other images I've seen, but can anyone identify the other guy in the photo (crouching)?

Probably going to need an enlargement / closer cropping of crouching man's face, as it's just about impossible to make out any detail at the automatically-resized resolution the system displays your photo at. Cropping it to just his face should reduce the file size considerably, so that the Net54 system doesn't compress it so much for the attachment.

That's what I was afraid would happen, this is the auction photo I downloaded. I will do a better scan when it arrives, I am just curious to find out what I bought. Always exciting to see if my purchase turns out to be "as-described." Description was:

"Original photo from 1914 showing two famous Baseball players (both of whome could easily be in the Baseball Hall of Fame someday) posed in front of the enrance to the San Xavier Mission in Arizona while on a Baseball Trip of the West. To the right is Frank Bancroft and his wife and to the left is another superstar player and his wife.

I am listing over 100 photos tonight of rare Western U.S. scenes. These were taken by a famous Baseball player and his wife while they were on a tour of the Western States and many of the people in the images are famous Baseball Stars!"

I have no reason to doubt the guy, it is San Xavier Mission in AZ., and the guy on the right does look like Frank Bancroft. I just asked the seller who was the famous baseball player that took the photo, and who was the other guy in the photo, and he never responded. Thanks for looking, I will add better scans when it arrives.

Picked this up with an old Dodgers collection.
I'd date it early-mid 1960's based on the stationary.

Nice Koufax sig and you are correct on the era. Based on exemplars it's circa 1963.

Drift 04-29-2014 11:14 PM

Thanks Scott. 1963 was a good year, i'll take that!
