I am awe struck by this whole thread and the seller, to be honest. I don't normally have much to say and more of a reader and a buyer.

Most of this may not be new. Here are some ideas:
  • Always pay with a credit card
  • File a report with a local police report pressing charges(This might require someone stepping up and taking a financial beating. You have time to file your charge back and your police report.)
  • Report the seller to the IRS(the more reports the more the flags may get raised. If they cheat on cards they likely cheat on taxes also. A nice audit should do well. How many people get even a single phone call reporting them?)
  • Leave negative feedback always
  • If they agree to ship via USPS isn't that mail fraud?

ullmandds 10-25-2016 07:43 PM

The one time I got "duped" by the battleax...I was just so happy to get my money back after the shock of the cards when they arrived...I didn't care about leaving neg feedback!

Unbelievable!!

Below every E-Bay listing at the bottom, there is a Security tab. I searched to the best of my ability and most seem to protect the seller, not the buyer?

I did find something yesterday that I can't locate today, and I wrote or filed a complaint but as of yet, I have heard nothing.
I did find this but I don't think it's what I used yesterday? Nothing easy about the process trying to tell E-Bay about these types of dis-honest sellers!

Nothing yet, Leon, and I am not expecting I will, but if I do, I will be sure to let you and the members know, for sure. :)

I am having an interesting transaction with Battlefieldsd at the moment. I bid and won several cards from her to see if I could spot the photo shopping that seems to be the major complaint lodged against her. In an auction just a few weeks back, I won, among other cards, a '54 Topps Ford and a '69 Topps RC Jackson. The cards were the same as listed on her Ebay auction. Her scans and my loop confirmed that. But the Whitey had a serious ding on the upper left border and the Reggie a tiny corner crinkle not shown on her scan under high magnification. I sent her an email detailing the problem and asking how she would like to handle the matter. No reply, enough already, so yesterday I emailed again that I intended to return the cards for a full refund, would be leaving negative feedback and opening her to the full fury of the Net54 Board seriously, I think this forum has a positive influence on marketplace activities) unless I had some response by today. Nothing yet. Watch this page for further news.

imagine if there were no psa or sgc etc. We would have 1000s of returns and mis characterizations of condition. For the cheaper cards i think some people dont want to deal with going through the process of the return and eat the card... it does appear you will get a full refund and we will see those cards again for auction go for more than they went for when they were originally sold graded.

Quite likely your eBay account will be suspended for threatening negative feedback before the case has settled. She could definitely have your negative feedback removed if you threatened it in advance. If you get a full refund after you return the cards, is your experience still negative, or is it Neutral?
She's doing the wrong things, but you are too.

I think the poster's threat came after he got no reply though when he asked how to handle the issue. I dont see a problem of a least threatening negative feedback for not replying at least.

I don't understand the comment that the experience is neutral. Even if his money is refunded eventually, he was deceived about the condition (disappointment), he was out the money for a time being (an inconvenience) and he received no timely response (frustrating to say the least). His time dealing with this and now having to send back cards at his own expense means he's actually invested resources in exchange for nothing. This is a negative experience, not a neutral one, and other buyers should be made aware. I'm not condoning the proactive threat of a negative, if that's against eBay rules, but I have no idea why anyone would characterize this is neutral.

Not a problem; I was mainly playing Devil's Advocate. But make sure not to threaten negative feedback on eBay's messages in the future.

If you read the feedback, she's notorious for not replying to emails.

Good point, but I made sure in my message only to mention the word feedback, not specifying positive or negative for the reasons you enumerated. I can't imagine the hassle of opening up a case with Ebay over a disputed Battlefield item. Makes me shudder to think about it.

jfkheat 10-31-2016 12:31 PM

There shouldn't be any hassle opening a eBay case. Open the case, eBay will supply you with a shipping label. Ship the card back. If battlefield doesn't give you a refund, eBay will step in and take the funds from her account.

Regarding this, I've done all these steps and will be getting my refund by tmrw or Wed I believe. What I'm wondering, however, is can I leave battlefield negative feedback without fear of her doing the same to me out of revenge? I do agree with some previous posters that the effort and time spent to deal with battlefield is not justified by the fact that I'm getting my money back

Absolutely. Sellers can't leave feedback for this very reason. I left her 17 negatives and 4 neutrals this summer and am still at 100% eBay rating.

Louieman 11-11-2016 01:03 PM

There seems to be something especially fishy going on with battlefield...so I left negative feedback yesterday, clearly stating my position that I think the seller altered the image for the listing. And then today I check to see that my comment has been usurped by a bunch of other positive feedback, almost all of which are from the same buyer. Maybe that's nothing but it seems quite convenient that my negative feedback, as well as the negative feedback of 5 or so other below me, is now somewhat hidden just at the right time

It seem she has immunity and anything that is unethical/suspect, she has no trouble getting away with.

I really hope someone, somewhere is pursuing her and looking to put her out of business for good!

The problem is is that she isn't leaving too many victims (financially speaking) as she gives immediate refunds when questioned. It's all of those other ones who will eventually find out they have a bad card that will take it on the chin. It is truly a shame. All we can hope for is that she gets the Karma coming to her. I believe she will..

I have seen battlefield's handy-work on ebay several times. She photoshops the cards and makes them look like 9s. I have actually followed some of her auctions just to see how much some unsuspecting fool will pay for it. I agree that it is wrong and disgusting what she does. Having have said that, I gotta say, a fool and his money are soon parted. I am sorry, but if you are buying an ungraded card on ebay (of all places) from a seller with horrible feedback you dont get a whole lot of pity from me. And the thing of it is these are often high-dollar cards that probablt aren't being purchased by some Joe Schmo newbie. If you are dropping 6k for a Hank Aaron rookie, you probably arent buying your first baseball card. If your greed blinds you and you think you found some lotto ticket on ebay and are willing to assume the risk, you really dont have a ton of sympathy from me. The reality is, if a card looks like a $30,000 psa 8, and the seller decided not to spend a few bucks on grading it, the odds are it has already been broken out of an authentic or low-grade holder. I am in no way justifying what she does, in fact, i think it is tantamount to theft, but dont buy a Louis Vuitton on Broadway for $30 and go crying that it is a fake.

She is quite bold but of course Ebay doesnt want to ditch a high volume high revenue seller customer. Here's a fun way to plunge the depths of her audacity. 1. View all negative feedback, 2. sort view to show "200" 3. copy a high value card title like "HANK AARON 1954 TOPPS #128 - RC" 4. hit control F to use the find function and paste the title in 5. See how many times she has sold the same card to try to find a sucker who won't immediately grade it in the return window.

Kind of amazing actually. The highest value cards tend to pop up 4-6 times in the space a year in the negative results. Volume is how the best scamsters hide all their fraud.

the collecting world for that type of card is pretty small and you would think everyone already has seen that card by now. I not sure why people just dont bid a psa 1/authentic raw price on it especially when seeing the negative ebay comments.

It is fun to see some of the 'shocked' buyer comments who think they bought a legit $1000 or whatever card and believe they are getting a card worth 1000s more....

The low dollar sales mask the high dollar fraud listings from a percentage perspective.

I can think of one way to stop the problem. If everyone ponies up 2 or 3 bucks and wins the low dollar cards and then leaves a negative feed back his percentage would drop, and he would lose a lot of credibility with Ebay.

Sometimes the only way to fight problems is with numbers. I would be in if we want to get a group of people together to help solve the problem.

She has some amazing T206 cards for sale right now. Cobbs, Cy Young, etc. Of course none of them are graded, and the scans are really bright.

I'm sure that no one here will buy them, but I would really like to see scans of the cards after the buyer receives them.

PS- The Young was sold on Oct.25, and it's back already.

Once again thankful for this board. It is easy to get excited about a listing but always important to remember the too good to be true line and also to take a second look at the seller. I really can't believe they have that high of feedback. What a joke.
Thanks to everyone for outing these sellers that try to make this hobby a scam.

BF Policy?

I purchased a card about 2 years ago from Battlefield. Of course it was listed as Phenomenal, Near Mint, etc... and it looked amazing in the scan. Once I received the card, I was disappointed as it did not appear as advertised, "Near Mint". It may have graded out as a "5" at best, IMO. They allowed me to return the card and refunded my funds with no problem. I am assuming that as a result of me returning a card, I am blocked from bidding in any of the auctions. I'm not sure if this is their policy or not but this was my experience. I consider this a blessing.

This is the reason her/his feedback is as good as it is. They accept returns without much hassle so the buyer doesn't leave negative feedback. If you look back at past sales almost every card over a couple hundred dollars has been sold at least 3 of 4 times.

Jeffrompa 11-29-2016 10:23 AM

They should have much better feedback by the cards they are showing online . I purchased some 1880's trade cards a couple years back with no problem . But those enhanced scans are really deceiving .

I don't understand why buyers would not leave a negative even if she returns your money. You're still out the time, shipping cost, hassle; not to mention the disappointment of receiving something that was incredibly misrepresented. To me, that is not a positive or even neutral experience. If more buyers like this left negatives in situations like this, then perhaps we wouldn't be talking about her all the time.

Leon 12-01-2016 11:18 AM

Some people might think it's bad Karma to leave a negative but if anyone deserves them, it is these fraudulent folks who, at this time, have 350+ chances of screwing someone else over.

I believe the OP is showing that it looks colored in?

If it is not that, then I have no clue either.

I had to go to page 5 to find this feedback. The first four pages are filled great reviews of $5.00 cards.

It sure seems that way, or it is not her at all.

This person has the exact same name, different middle initial but the funeral parlor is only 15 minutes from their mailing address. What are the odds of that? My guess is there is some very tight connection when it comes to middle America, like that.

PhillipAbbott79 12-18-2016 11:53 PM

There is definitely no house at her mailing address. Actually, it basically barely exists. It is either a business building with the dot at the wrong place, or the security gate to a gated community.

Most likely the former.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/30...67a50710a996b4

I bet she does it at her office where she works, so no one shows up at her door.

If you're looking for 304 Jamestown Blvd in Dothan, Alabama, it's the building with Jackson Thornton out front. From your overhead, go NNE. It's the building under the cluster of trees off the road a little bit.

PhillipAbbott79 12-19-2016 08:40 AM

That explains it. She works there. I wonder if the company she works for knows that she is committing fraud out of their business.

Hate to keep adding to this, but at least it may help the newbies.

Was surfing the Bay tonight and got all giddy when I noticed a bunch on very nice 52 Topps cards, but then quickly realized, after looking at the pic/info, it was none other than battleaxe herself!

At least the description for that mentions the paper loss on the front through the letters of Dodgers and tape on the back, aside from not showing the picture of the red back. So it's probably not worth photoshopping a card she's telling you is Fair to Good.

She has a lot of 52's for sale, and although what you say is correct, her previous history speaks for itself.
I'd like to believe she has seen the light and is being more honest/truthful, but I know we will, likely, be reading about these in her negative feedback in the very near future.
This Spahn is also described well but my gut, as likely many others who know her, know this card probably isn't what it looks like when it's in hand.

She's still calling a card with paper loss and tape residue "Beautiful"

Everyone of her 52 Topps cards look exceptional to me. Not that that is not possible but that seems to fit the bill of all her listings.

Sadly, we know, when buyers have the cards in hand, they look nothing like they did in her postings.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw...topps&_sacat=0

Still p*sses me off knowing she continually gets away with this and E-Bay classifies her as a Top rated Seller!

Leon 12-24-2016 07:08 AM

Nowadays the only thing worse than seeing something is being sold by this scammer (who really should be in jail) is reading the title of an auction that says READ FIRST........

I'm amazed that she could do this scamming so long. I would think there is a limit for the number of people willing to spend $2k on a 53 Topps Mantle - and I would think that the people willing to put that kind of money up for a baseball card would already know she is a complete scammer.

At some point I would think her prices had to fall because there's no one left that is willing to bid on her stuff - but I guess the baseball card market is deeper than I thought.

Cheers,
Patrick

Bram99 12-24-2016 01:13 PM

Battle...

Yes, you would think that there is an limited supply of people to fall for her tricks, but I have been a collector for 30 years and I did fall for it this summer on none other than a 1953 Mantle that I suspect she has had to sell about 5 times. The "Breathtaking" card wasn't as breathtaking as the picture, and I returned it. She took the absolute maximum plus a couple of days to reply to the request to return. Then she held on to the money for the absolute maximum time plus another few days. By the time I got my money back another person had been duped for the same card.

My guess she does this to multiple people with high priced cards, hopes they don't return them, and even if they do, she can't lose because she holds the money for over a month and then re-sells again. I feel the real villain in this story is actually eBay, who has to be very aware of her poor business practices, but doesn't want to lose their cut of the transactions where people don't know any better and are for a time, satisfied.

I agree!
I have written E-Bay, by following their own rules and procedures written below in every ad, and not once have I received a reply.
To make that situation even more troublesome/puzzling, is the fact I know I am not the only one.

bbcardzman 12-26-2016 06:50 AM

It's a simple fact: eBay LOVES Battlefield0516
Battlefield0516 makes eBay lots and lots of money
Battlefield0516 sells garbage and uses altered images
Battlefield0516 makes eBay lots and lots of money
eBay doesn't care about what she does to everyone
Battlefield0516 makes eBay lots and lots of money
eBay removes negative feedback so you can't see what a scammer she is
Battlefield0516 makes eBay lots and lots of money
eBay lets her still sell even though she lies and cheats customers
Battlefield0516 makes eBay lots and lots of money
eBay receives hundreds of complaints about Battlefield0516 every month
Battlefield0516 makes eBay lots and lots of money
The biggest scammer on eBay is Battlefield0516 and DOES EBAY CARE?
Battlefield0516 makes eBay lots and lots of money

MAYBE YOU CAN FIGURE OUT A RECURRING THEME HERE

Bottom line: eBay cares about $$$$$$$ and that's it - period.

SMPEP 12-29-2016 10:20 AM

Okay, we all know she photoshops her cards. If this is the best she can do with this cards - what do you think it looks like in real life?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/132047875225...MakeTrack=true

I'm almost tempted to buy it just to see how bad it truly is. Almost.

Cheers,
Patrick

Ps - the description is priceless "This card is in nice condition for its age! It is 100% authentic & unaltered! This card has light to moderate corner wear, near perfect centering, beautiful color, good eye appeal, several creases, and some staining, paper loss, and pen marks on the front & back of the card. There are no pinholes or any damage of that kind."

Umm ... pen marks make it altered, right? And good eye appeal with "several creases and some staining, paper loss and pen marks on front & back"? At least there are "no pinholes or any damage of that kind."

Rookiemonster 12-29-2016 10:28 AM

Ebay should have a per listing fee for the use of adjectives and exclamation marks.

Just read a few of her neutral and negative feedback, which has increased, btw, and noticed in a couple where E-Bay had to get involved.

I don't read her reviews diligently by any stretch, but I don't recall reading these before where E-Bay got involved? Hopefully, which is likely wishful thinking, this is the start of the end for her!

Their feedback rating is 97.7%. I think if a seller falls below 98% the ebay seller fee discounts go away. So, the negatives probably are hurting them to some degree.

Leon 01-03-2017 09:08 AM

Yeap, I think the fees go up, or discounts go down, with bad feedback. These people will get their just dues. Karma is a MO- FO .... :)

Karma for sure !

It may be worth noting that this is the user account that the Young card was bought under from PWCC:

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d..._None_ViewLink

It is not the same account that they sell under and I wanted to post it before the listing is removed.

I wonder if this user has inflated any of their auction prices.
