The process that I like is that I get a paypal f/f when I receive your cards. When everyone does the same thing, I don't have to remember who did what.

Shipping ready, on the way today...

Well, that was interesting. Had a number iof cards in mind but, after not looking at a few for like six years, it was like WTH was I thinking? Oh yeah, UTL Gretzky.

Sending eleven. This is my rookie bulk so...you will drop us a line when cards are received and look for f/f, with what, $1 a card for shipping?

Thanks for doin this, Bobby, much appreciated.

not me! I have subbed individually once in my life with a 33 Goudey Gehrig I bought on this site. It came back Auth Alt, and it created a shit show when the seller wouldn't give a refund. There is a thread about it somewhere.

bobbyw8469 10-08-2022 01:22 PM

Sorry for the confusion then??? I wonder who that was?

I remember now. It was Tony Ooten. You are Tim Odeen. I wonder why they wouldn't slab that Gehrig with an "A"??? Did you want a number grade?

todeen 10-08-2022 05:56 PM

seller in his description wrote "I guarantee it will grade." To me, and many others on the site, that means 1-10. Regardless, he refused a refund because SGC took roughly 6 months to authenticate it in 2020. He argued "Auth" is a grade in and of itself, and I disagreed. So I posted it in a thread and then the fireworks started. Seller was kicked off Net54. My thread was paired with another thread on the same day that provided huge entertainment on Net54. The other thread turned into a roast and lots of memes.

I wish I could recall the other thread. It had to do with listing Mantles? (53T maybe) for exorbitant prices by a brand new member. Usual "I know how much my cards are worth." Some more experienced Net54 members tried to kindly tell him how much the cards should sell for, because many of us were interested - they were nice cards. But unlike spam threads where the OP never posts again, the OP responded with "OK Boomer." And then the memes started flooding in. That was a funny one. I worked until midnight on the weekends with no authentic work past 10pm. that was the highlight of the night. ROFLMAO.

What is everyone's opinion on SGC? Better than PSA? There ARE certain aspects about them that I like.

I like both but I prefer PSA right now. I don't like the Tuxedo black as much as many others, especially because it shows scuffs and scratches on the holder more prominently and I have had several cards get stuck under the black insert.

That being said having a $1500 value limit for their lowest tier, and ability to submit multiple sized cards in the same order are a huge advantage and why I still use them sometimes.

The fact that they still charge $100 minimum (unless it was updated with the new prices) for an oversized holder, and full grading prices for reholders are a huge downside.

Updated
I also have a handful of cards for your next PSA vintage sub.

Justin...my PSA membership runs out in 2 weeks. I was toying with the idea of not renewing. Crazy, huh? I have been a member for 14 years. I dunno....as much as I love the hobby, I am not too thrilled about the direction it is taking.

My biggest likes are that the holder looks so much nicer than the others and their grading in my opinion is way more accurate.

The bad is that beautiful holder is a POS. I find it harder to get a good picture of cards in their slab because of glare and if you just look at it too long it might leave a mark/scratch in the holder.

Contact Brent Martin at SGC.

brent@gosgc.com

Tyruscobb 11-02-2022 07:40 PM

I’m assuming that the return shipping rate is contingent on the number of submitted cards and their value. You indicated there were over 200 cards.

If the average card value is $150.00 (I believe this was my average), then the total value is $30,000.00 (200 cards x $150.00).

$400.00 return shipping equates to 1.33% of the package’s total value for shipping expenses and insurance. Is this reasonable? I don’t know and have never shipped this many cards or for this much money. Maybe $400.00 is the correct rate. I have no clue. Just trying to understand and rationalize the $400.00 amount.

Out of curiosity, what is the total declared value of all cards? Maybe it would be cheaper breaking the total submission into four smaller ones of around 50 cards each? No clue. We appreciate all the hard work and headaches that come with running these submissions groups, Bobby.

The total declared value is 68k. What you say makes perfect sense. Break down one huge order into 3, 70 card orders. Value each one under their $25k threshold, and walla. Problem solved. The only negative part is I already entered all the cards. It is a pain in the ass to delete cards and reenter everything. I emailed SGC. Let's see what they say. It's a shame they have no phone number to speak to a living human.

Yeah, that is weird. Before the company moved to Florida, I used the opportunity to call whenever I had issues or questions. Always super helpful. Have not submitted a card for grading for at least six years...

Is this the ‘modern’ version now of service? Hope not.

This whole order is turning into a nightmare. I dummied up a second order. Stopped just shy of their 25k threshhold, and still wasn't given an option for USPS shipping. And unlike PSA, they want their money up front. I m trying to get this shipping ordeal right. If they can't fix this though, then I grossly undercharged for shipping.

Bobby, im assuming the extra $1 you charge covers shipping to SGC correct?

If it's $400 to ship back to you then that's what it is. So we each have to Pony up another $1.91 per card to cover it, correct?

Don't stress over it, we'll work it out.

They have to change it on their end manually. Their computer system only allows one way due to the value. I have spoken with Brent and they will handle the shipping on their end. I just want something comparable to what PSA charges.

Definitely SGC will be. PSA?? Let's reserve judgement on that one...lol

bobbyw8469 11-18-2022 09:03 AM

Guys.....we have a MAJOR problem with how SGC entered the order in. When I submit under PSA, they enter the order in the exact same way I have them on the form. That way I am able to group everyone's cards together and can know whose card is whose when ya'll submit multiple copies of the same card!

SGC did NOT do that!! They entered the cards in a totally random order. So for the multiple people that entered in multiple copies of the same card, I have no idea whose is whose. This is a MAJOR problem!!!!!

tonyo 11-18-2022 10:16 AM

hopefully everyone has scans or photos of the cards they sent.

Can you share a list of the cards in the sub? so we can see which cards are multiple, to start rounding up scans if need be?

The unique ones wont be the issue. The 1958 Mantle All Stars will be an issue.

What a Charlie Foxtrot. I, too, can't open the list. Hopefully, there were not too many duplicate cards. To further complicate matters, I know I submitted multiple copies of the same card. If several others also submitted multiple copies then the fun begins.

Multiple copies of the same card is not the issue. My problem will arise if two different people submitted 1958 Mickey Mantle All Stars. For example, only 1 person submitted W202's. Only one person submitted a Kashin Ruth. Only 1 person submitted some T206 mega stars. Something like a 1960 Carl Yastremski though, I might have more than one person subbing stuff. Phil is helping me look into things. I forwarded him the list (before it got all disarrayed).

JollyElm 11-18-2022 01:41 PM

We will all do whatever is needed to help out this situation, and more importantly, to avoid giving you a heart attack, Bobby.

Could you post a list in chronological order of the cards that were submitted, so we can see which ones have multiple copies? From there, whoever has one of those could find scans, pics, whatever, to show which card is theirs.

Could you post a list in chronological order of the cards that were submitted, so we can see which ones have multiple copies? From there, whoever has one of those could find scans, pics, whatever, to show which card is theirs.

I forwarded Phil the original list. I can get you one too Darren.

I think I can follow it. It will just take a different strategy than dealing with PSA. WIth PSA, I simply put all the cards in chronological order and matched them up with the sheets.

With SGC, I will take the sheets and match them up with the cards. And hopefully I didn't have guys send the exact same card.
