Major League Baseball listed Palmer's performance as a perfect game until 1991, when it clarified the definition of a no-hitter to stipulate that the pitcher had to go nine or more innings to receive credit for a gem.

Anyone here able to verify the date of this Senators ticket other than the writing on the back lol. I'm not sure what 44 means, but the 44th home game wouldn't have been Aug 22nd.

It's not possible to nail down anything based on the 44 on the front of the ticket. IMHO, 44 would refer to the 44th home game, but I may be wrong.
One question about the date written on the back of the ticket:
Is the writing in fountain pen, or is it in ball point pen?
I can't tell by your photo.
Please note that ball point pen was not a thing until around 1940. If the writing is in ballpoint pen, it's inconsistent with 1934.

BTW, my good friend Dan Busby (RIP) published a couple of limited production books on ticket collecting entitled "Washington Senators 1868-1939" and Washington Senators 1940-2012", respectively.

Unfortunately, there is not an example of a photo of a Grandstand ticket from the 1934 era to compare it to in the book. The ticket price is consistent with what a Grandstand ticket cost in the early 1940's (1941) based on an exemplar that he shows in the 2nd book.

Just got this one back from Michaels, my run of Jarry Parks Home Openers 1969-1976 , The Photo is from the 1970 Home opener with Bob Gibson on the mound and Rusty Staub at bat (he struck out) its a little hard to see but in right centerfield you can see fans watching the game on top of snow banks and on top of the swimming pool's cabin

This ticket was purchased from, and printed at, an "ETM" kiosk at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, Long Island, NY. Over the years, the ink has faded - unfortunately, as faint as the printing is in this enhanced scan (made July 18, 2012), it's significantly more legible here than it is on the actual ticket.

Not mine but thought I’d share anyway. I did some work at the Clemente Museum this last weekend. This is a new item on loan. The owner traveled to Pittsburgh as a child and attended the 9/1/71 all minority lineup game. He stood outside the stadium that day and collected almost every player’s autograph in his autograph book. The poor quality snap shot is of him getting Roberto’s autograph outside of Three Rivers.

Thats a great piece. Ill have to check it out and see what new things they have in the museum. That ticket is on my must-find list but I have only ever seen a few of them. Attendance was just above 11K. I would think there would be a few more around the Pittsburgh area but its a tough find. A few months ago I was able to purchase original slides of a family that attended game 7 of the 1960 World Series. Really added some like to the tickets that came with them. Only had a few Clemente photos in it and that was from a distance.

I recently picked this up on eBay. Nothing of any importance occurred in this regular season game. However, I was surprised by the shiny gold color and the price of admission. Box seats were $4.15 that year. This ticket is almost twice that amount. Has anyone here ever come across a Pirates ticket like this? Do you have any information or ideas why such a ticket exists? Thanks!

Was fortunate to find this photo from Hank Aaron's 704th HR hit on August 18th 1973 at Jarry Park in Montreal off a very young Steve Rogers , this Home run was the 1,378th extra-base hit of his career passing Stan Musial's mark of 1377 to become the all-time leader in extra-base hits, he ended his career with 1477 extra-base hits, still the all-time record

As you're aware, the Expos manager in 1991 was former major leaguer, Tom Runnels.
Ironically, I used to see Runnels at my gym fairly frequently.
I've spoken to him about Mark Gardner's no-hit loss on 7/26/91 two days earlier against the Dodgers as well as El Presidente's perfecto on 7/28/91.

Tim Wallach was our best 3rd baseman ever, But Larry Parrish was my favorite, really hurt The Expos when he was traded to the Texas Rangers ,he was the guy who kept that locker room together a great leader

French Canadians in Quebec use the same way of dating day/month/year

I live the majority of the year outside of the US for the past 25+ years. I have to be careful writing my dates when I am in the US to avoid confusion. The format DD/MM/YY is done in most places of the world with the idea from smallest to largest.

That and all reservation calendars for hotels and airlines overseas use Monday as the first day of the week. Since we consider Monday to be the beginning of the week it makes sense. You have to pay attention to the days and dates when making reservations.

For my Red Schoendienst player pc. Rochester Red Wings 1944 ticket. Unfortunately Red didn't play this day, (he didn't much in 1944 in general)

But still part of the roster so thats a win for me!

How about some Pirate tickets from 1938.

This was my ticket to what was one of the most impressive performances I ever saw by a hitter. I can still hear a sold out Kingdome crowd chanting in unison “Ed-Gaar-Ed-Gaar” Edgar was magic that entire series. He certainly delivered by belting 2 home runs and driving in 7 runs in Game 4 of the 1995 American League Division Series, becoming the first player in postseason history to record 7 RBI in a single game. Like Dave Niehaus said, “Get out the Rye Bread and mustard Grandma it’s Grand Salami Time.”

Some tickets are iconic, while some tickets tend to be ironic.

This one is the latter of the two. I am still searching for Frank Howards first HR ticket with the Rangers but this will will also do for now too.

First season as the Rangers and Game #2 of their home stand with the Twins. Two old Senators teams going against each other. How many other MLB teams can say they have birthed, in some way, two teams from the original?

Believe it or not, my 23-year old son Sam and I witnessed one of these games on October 1, 2000 in Detroit.
Tiger's utility player, Shane Halter (who played in college at University of Texas with Reid Ryan, Nolan's son), played all 9 positions.
This was the 1st ML game that Sam ever attended, and he was a baby.
Not surprisingly, I saved our tickets. ;):D

Ironically, Sam & I actually saw a Kevin Hooper, a fan-favorite utility player on the Toledo Mud Hens, also accomplish this feat about 10 years ago.
Attending two games where a player played all 9 positions is Cray Cray. :eek:
