Thanks for the info Howard. I did see that auction and also came away empty handed. Somehow I missed the 1960 ring. I see there are 100 more Clemente family lots in their current auction. I bid on a few but remain pessimistic about my chances.

Some of the prices were stunning. Some not so much imo. I was on the phone almost the whole auction. I took home about 5 lots - coolest one I believe to be Clemente's 1954 learners permit with photo. Of course where many of the other lots were falling within the estimates a couple that I REALLY wanted and went after hard, blew the estimates away! Really wanted that 3000 hit Vase from the team with facsimile auto's - I wasn't even close. Under bidder on the gold medal from PR. Such is life. Glad to have won a few. Have many bids on the current auction too! We'll see when the dust settles.

Day 95

I won this next item on eBay last year and when I received it, I was surprised at how small it actually was, even though this is the smaller variation of two coins. There is also a pendant version in addition to the two coins. I posted a picture with a quarter for size reference.

Day 96

Just as I was surprised at how small the coin I posted yesterday was, I was similarly surprised at how large this coin was. Much larger & heavier.

That's a great panel.

I'm curious what others think about multi-player panels, but I really love them (mainly Bazookas, but I like Hostess, and even Berk Ross in this format).
I have a '63 and '65 Bazooka panel with Clemente, and I really like them, though I know some purists prefer the single player image and standard size.

Mike,

I love complete boxes and panels. Wish I had more, but they have been pricey for a while. I did have some Hostess panels and singles, but have sold most of them off.

I definitely prefer the complete boxes! As Mike mentioned - most have been pricey (as they should be based on how hard they are to get). The holy grail I am still searching for happens to be a complete 1960 box with Clemente! Many don't know there are actually 2 "size" variations for most years of the Bazooka's as well - before you get too concerned, there is no variation in the card size on the boxes (like Nabisco did in 1969), but there are 20 piece and 25 piece boxes - the early ones (1959-1962) have different colors and are really cool (imo)

Day 97

I believe this next item was a stadium giveaway. I have seen more than one copy floating around, but definitely a period piece.

I have been wanting one of these Louisville Slugger commemorative black bats for a long time. They were given to the players and staff of the year's World Series teams. They were not made available to the public and as such the 1971 versions tend to be hard to find and cost prohibitive...at least on my budget. My understanding is that less than 100 for each World Series team were created. They were produced annually between the early 1930s to the late 1990s. I was struggling to sleep last night and came across these two for Baltimore and Pittsburgh listed as a pair. The asking price was half what I was willing to pay for the Pittsburgh bat alone. Sometimes sleepless nights pay off.
