Holy crap Jeff, congrats! Those are two absolutely amazing cards to own (and I think you stole the Ruth). Now you simply must get the Indy set, seriously!

I think that Boston Garter Cobb is one of the sweetest cards in the hobby. Can we pin that scan to the top of the board?

Nice Jeff! Some modest little pickups there.. :D Congrats!

Congratulations Jeff! Two great cards.
|
Wow. Congrats Jeff!!!

Great cards, Jeff! |
By my count, I'm the 20th to congratulate Jeff for his fantastic pick ups!
But Jeff, what I really want to know is, how could you refrain from picking up the Boston Garter of WaJo to go along with the BG of Cobb? :) |

I never really liked the strip cards very much, but this is one way to pick up an early Ruth at a reasonable price. Plus, the card actually has better colors than seen in the picture.

I refuse to post any of my modest pick-ups from this month after seeing all the eye-candy from the previous few pages. Congrats to you all!

Baseball players sure dressed funny back then.:D

Yes, he played for the Striped Sox. They were a low budget team who could not afford pants or jerseys, only hosiery.

Just picked this up.

Wow....
|
Dang!
What an incredible month for pickups. Sweet Ruth! |
Ethan-If Frederick Photos were issued in 1921 why do they have Ruth in a Boston uniform? Also, any idea how these cards were distributed?

Nice cards all, I traded in some Genworth Financial stock for the Ruth...

From what I can recall, Frederick Foto was a Northern California company and was the photographer of the Sacramento Senators. Many of the cards in the set picture PCL players, so that makes sense. |
Frederick Foto Babe Ruth
Yes, I think that Kevin has it right on this issue. The cards are very scarce. I believe only a few Ruth's have been graded by SGC and PSA. Love the pose, size of the card and the image of him with a bat in a Red Sox uniform.
|
Thanks guys! This is luckily my second one. Orlando my plan wasn't to get one per son lol, but that would be great! I traded Ethan my Frederick Foto for the PC, so it worked out well for both of us. Ethan that's a fantastic card.
Ryan, and everyone, super pickups this month. The hobby is doing well in August! |
