Dave,

Thank you.....I think. I usually don't equate "good grief" with a compliment, but I understand the connotation. :)

I've always wanted one of these and they seem pretty hard to come by since the SGC and PSA POP report (if believed) is a total of 5.

Nice, that is a really tough one, Brad.

pencil1974 09-19-2015 02:16 PM

Thanks Phil, very pleased to finally own one.

Beautiful Bambino!

Thanks Anthony! For such a tiny piece of cardboard I think it's pretty cool.

not a big T206 guy, but liked the orange-ish background on this one ...

(p.s. when are we going to upgrade the forum to one where we can "like" posts? There are about 50 posts so far from this month's pickups that I'd like to "like")

Some new additions to my pre-war St. Louis Cardinals/Browns Collection. All from board members, Thanks guys!

Thanks to Mike for the raw cards here :D

Jobu 09-21-2015 02:52 PM

Glenn, that Caruthers is outstanding.

Josh, you have a plate scratch on the back of your Kleinow Pd 150 - looks like you get to post in that thread!

Pete C, it has been a few days since you posted something incredible. Where is your new T206 Plank or E107 Wagner? :D

shernan30 09-21-2015 04:26 PM

I finally decided to pickup this E94 Jennings from a board member. I've been interested for sometime now and figured it was time. While it is only an SGC A, the colors are awesome!!

Card 27 of 30 this month.

Rob I suggested this months ago even though I'm sure some have before me. I was greeted with the "This isn't Facebook" rants.

I think it's a good idea for at least a like option.

Nice Doyle btw.

Never thought I'd get this--as my first DiMaggio. And a few other guys who were okay. Don't see this in blue too often. Was only interested in this as blue and well-centered so I am kind of shocked.

Congrats, and at a nice price. I almost made it more expensive in the final seconds, but didn't bid.

GregMitch34 09-22-2015 08:31 AM

Thanks for holding back! It was a rare case of making a what-the-hell last minute bid and not getting topped...

My bank account was happy to oblige, but I was not as enthusiastic. Please just tell me you had a really high max bid and I didn't miss out! (one instance where a white lie is preferable;))

Adding--- it really is such a great card. 4 HOFers total, and the passing of the torch between Gehrig and young Joe D.

I'm super psyched to add this tough type to my Pittsburgh collection - thanks for advertising the ebay auctions through the Net54 contest or I might not have even noticed it:

Thanks, Brian.

I am not a paper expert, but the print and the texture of the paper I do not associate with the early 1900s.

Thanks. Lucky for me some people don't consider game cards to be baseball cards, or I might have had to pay 10x as much for it.

One of the great postwar cards (in my view). Maybe it's the red and turquoise....no a bad young player, either.

There goes the college education, LMAO.....

always loved this card and had to have another....though this one cost me more than the 4 I bought a few years ago...

Why the 2.5? Looks a lot nicer.

There are a few almost imperceptible wrinkles on the reverse, in the upper right sphere. There could be a bit of wrinking on the lower front but if there is it doesn't bother me. It looks like there might be a few errant, erased marks on back too. I noticed some and it didn't bother me.... I didn't buy the holder (not that you said I did, but I always like cards more than plastic).

This might sound like sour grapes but I actually like it a bit better than the 4 I had because this one has better centering (and that one had great centering).....Now, when I find this kind of card and it's a T205 Cobby......then I will be back to some of my favorite cards in Collection II.....I love the journey....

Leon,

Great card.

I can see a wrinkle below the bat parallel to the arch of Ruth's lip and another one on his hip on the right side, but I'm also no expert at grading. Never submitted a card. Never will :) :D.

Thanks, it is certainly possible there are a few wrinkles going through to the front.....the aesthetics aren't very affected, to me.

ps...as an update there are a few faint paper wrinkles at the bottom right on the front. There are no other surface imperfections I can see under a 10x.....though there appears to be a tiny surface abrasion in the upper left, away from his head and not able to be seen very well or by the naked eye. All in all, better than expected.

DeanH3 09-24-2015 09:05 AM

Awesome pick up Leon. That card has very nice registration as well. Extremely tough to find with that kind of centering AND registration.

shernan30 09-24-2015 04:35 PM

Nearing the finish line (the last 3 are on their way). The cards and photo all came from board members, thanks again everyone.
