I agree, those Sosnak baseballs are terrific. Some he would sell, but a lot of them were given away. Being a Koufax collector, I had to get the one below commemorating his 3rd no-hitter.

Thanks Scott, I can't imagine how long it took him to complete a baseball. I know when he died there were a lot of baseballs he had started but never completed.

Sosnak balls are great, here's some photos of my one and only. Added the little description from my site:

1966 G. Sosnak St. Louis Cardinals Ball
This hand painted baseball by Sosnak celebrates the 1966 St. Louis Cardinals baseball club with team logo imagery and artwork of the team's biggest star, Bob Gibson. This ball has been signed in pencil by Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Orlando Cepeda, Red Schoendienst, Curt Flood and many others. Sosnak dedicated this ball to Winn Sosnak on the sweet spot.

There are some really nice pieces in this thread. I have some prints, nothing too fancy.

I have always wanted to own art from a local New York reporter/artist who used to write for the NY Daily New, Bill Gallo. He has since passed on, so I sure his art may be hard to get.

There was an artist who's name escapes me. His stuff used to appear in Baseball Digest. He used to draw stadiums with images of famous plays that occurred in that particular ballpark around it. I loved those pics and have been wanting a print of Yankee Stadium. Just need to find out his name.

1950 Gene Mack original artwork of No-Hit pitcher Vern Bickford

I just recently picked up this 12" x 16" original art drawing of Boston Braves no-hit pitcher Vern Bickford and other no-hit pitchers that appeared in The Sporting News in 1950.

This piece is an obvious fit because of the no-hit theme for my collection, plus I love original art. ;) A deadly combo. :D

NY Giants original painting

In the 1990's, this illustrator had done a series that was displayed in the front offices of the Chicago White Sox. I liked the mythical, legendary style. I commissioned him to paint the "Hitter" for me, only with a Giants ball cap. (23"x19" framed) fyi, I will probably be offering this for sale soon... Mike

I'm happy with my 2 Arthur K Miller paintings, but I'm looking forward to hiring Mr. Kreindler to work his magic for me.

I also have a couple of his lithographs and the last thing I'm showing is a great art card of my cousin Whitlow Wyatt created from a photo of him I had never seen.

I recently picked up this beautiful Eddie Mathews drawing. It is also autographed by Eddie in blue pen. The only down side is the artist did not sign it so there is no way of knowing who they are.

Beautiful piece. Believe it or not, I have the original Type 1 Photo that was used to create that artwork. It’s a very rare rookie image of Mathews, and the only original I’ve ever seen.

Perhaps the two belong together? If you are interested, shoot me a PM. I am open to selling it if you like it. I’ll attach a picture of the Mathews Rookie photo... please just ignore the camera glare, and thanks!

Ugh... this site always rotates the picture unnecessarily. Will try one more time, with the flash to the right of Mathews this time...

Edit- sorry for the sideways pics. Nothing I do seems to fix it.

Reviving this thread with the newest piece in my collection.

This 5x7 painting was commissioned by Topps for their 2018 Gallery set and is the very image found on Zack Greinke's card within the set. The art was created by Dan Bergren and was done as a pencil sketch with airbrush for the background, flesh tones and larger sections featuring color, while acrylic paints were used for the finer details and the uniform.

Greinke only appears on three Gallery cards featuring original art so far throughout his career and as far as I know is not featured on any original art in other Topps sets.

I realize that this piece is quite new compared to much of the artwork shown in the previous posts however, that is one of the reasons I was drawn to the piece. Now don't get me wrong, I love baseball cards and there are many great issues and sets produced these days, however, in a day and age when a new card can be designed, edited and printed at warp speed, there is something refreshing to be found in this piece and as someone who dabbles in art myself, I can also fully appreciate the talent and detail that a piece like this commands!

This is made up of hundreds of Topps micro-cards 1991-1993. If you are standing right in front of it, it looks like a sheet of uncut cards. When you get farther away it looks like this...

Honestly I stole the idea. I saw one sell in a big catalog auction. It sold for pretty big money. I thought, I could make one myself. So I got the largest photo blowup of the item in the auction. Then I went though all 3 Topps micro sets and found each card one by one. Believe me that was the hardest part. Using a magnifying glass on a small photo and trying to figure out who each card was. Took a very long time to do that. But then once you have them you just glue them to some foam board. then find a frame to fit it. I've seen a few others mosaics of other players using the micro sets and they are pretty neat. they actually sell a program that you can scan in the small bits you have to make a mosaic and it will organize them for you to make the picture you want. But I was unable to figure out the software. Plus you need to scan in all the cards individually but then you would have a data base to make anything.

It displays best if you have a long line of sight before you get to the mosaic. Like at the end of a hallway or large room. When someone looks up it is obvious who it is but as they get closer it disappears.

Wade Boggs Cut Card Mosaic Art

1 Attachment(s)
I received this amazing piece in the mail yesterday. I could not be more happy with how great it turned out. It is 11X17 inches and cost me a grand total of $106.50 delivered to my house. The whole process was very easy and the artist was a pleasure to deal with.

I chose this design for a couple reasons. First is Wade Boggs is my favorite player. Second, is the coolest cut card art I had seen was Tim Carroll(sp?) did the 2013 SSP 1989 All Star Derek Jeter card. My only regret is I have enough Wade Boggs cards I could have easily had mine made using only Wade Boggs cards.

The artist is a member and here is a link to his post in the BST section.https://www.net54baseball.com/showth...10#post2158910
