Movies

Some of these movies have been mentioned in this thread (several times), so pardon me for reprising them. The one difference between me and most of you
is that I'm old enough to have seen these movies in the theatre when they were originally shown. And of course, I've seen them on the TV many times since.

Anyhow, here are my recommendations......

Casablanca
The Robe
On The Waterfront
Vertigo
North by Northwest
Guns of Navarone
The Great Escape
Dr. Strangelove....especially this one, since I was in the Air Force on a B52 Bomber base when it was in the theatre in 1964
The Sting
Jaws
The Verdict
Absence of Malice

WESTERNS

Ox Bow Incident
High Noon
Shane
Johnny Guitar
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

BASEBALL

Pride of the Yankees
The Natural
The Stratton Story....Monte Stratton pitched for the Chicago White Sox (1934-1938). Jimmy Stewart portrays him in this Academy Award movie (Best original story).

An underrated Chevy Chase film is Funny Farm. I lol'd.

But if you don't like him this won't change your mind :)

If you're in a San Fran state of mind, definitely check out 'The Game' with Michael Douglas. Great flick. Then watch 'Zodiac,' directed by David Fincher. It is really well done, but there are some chilling parts that are horrifyingly realistic. I wish it wasn't a true story.

Movies

Hey Brian1961

Regarding oldies-but-goodies, we both forgot to include The Maltese Falcon.

And, I'll add a relatively recent movie....The Cinderella Man
A terrible title for a great movie featuring the true life story of boxer James Braddock (portrayed by Russell Crowe).

Ted, you're right. I indeed forgot about Casablanca, a genuine favorite.

Octavio, yes bro, Clint and his sensitive mule. I love that scene in "A Fistful of Dollars".

Merry Christmas, guys. --- Brian Powell

Anyone see Birdbox yet on Netflix?

Ive gotten mixed reviews about it. People either love it or hate it. I hope to watch it this weekend.
