Posted By: paulstratton
Nice double up Joe. They will look nice in SGC holders.

"Before your son was taken so tragically young, he won four Opens in a row; how good a player was he (you famously said: ‘I could cope wi’ Allan [Robertson] but never wi’ Tommy’)?"

"I remember taking him up to Perth for a tournament when he was just a boy and there were more folk watching that match than watching the professionals; he caused quite a stir, even though he was only 13-years-old. He had big, powerful hands and a powerful swing. The first big professional event we had at Carnoustie in 1866, Tommy won it aged 16. And then he won three consecutive Opens and defending it for the third time he won it by 12 shots. But with his power he also had a deft touch around the greens."

Posted By: Scott S
This card just arrived from the UK...

Good news: I now have 15 of the 18 from this Ogden's set.
Bad news: 1 of the missing 3 is Tom Morris.

Posted By: Scott S
Picked these up raw, and just got them back from SGC. I was hoping for higher grades since these have SHARP corners, but the cards were stored in photo corners and are toned. I guess that sort of minor toning causes more of a downgrade than I expected...

Posted By: Joe D.
Thanks for the kind words Jason.

There is no surface damage, no creasing or wrinkling or discoloration, and the back is clean. The scan actually does not do it justice (I think because of the way the light reflects off of this type of card).

I would be surprised if it didn't come back a '7'....
but then again - I am usually a bit optimistic.
