The Travels of "Large Ass" Herzog (photo log)
The Great Trade Chain continues. Herzog was sent in the mail today to the first trade partner.
Original Thread: "Feelin' The T206 Magic" Link to the Rules: "Chain Trade..." Keep a lookout for your next chance to get in the game. Here we are in front of the Iowa State Capitol Building (photo by my 9-year-old daughter). https://static.wixstatic.com/media/5...f7f517~mv2.jpg |

Buckys first travelogue
5 Attachment(s)
OK, I am the lucky first trader of the great BIG ASS bucky. The pictures will explain his adventure thus far:
Attachment 37210 Bucky arrived this Easter weekend and was treated to a rousing welcome by Yo Gabba Gabba (Don't ask) Attachment 37211 Bucky's trip started off hairy as Baby Sean tried to immediatly eat him Attachment 37212 Bucky then participated in an Easter egg hunt with my son maxwell (Bucky got a laffy taffy and a dragon sticker) Attachment 37213 Then it was on to Lincolns tomb (I wonder how big Bucky's tomb is?) Attachment 37214 Bucky rubbed Honest Abe's nose for good luck (i didn't as its a breeding ground for disease) |
2 Attachment(s)
Attachment 37215
Maxwell and Bucky share a poignant moment at the Korean War Memorial (Maxwell isnt saluting, he's actually hit breaking point on this whole "Take a picture with an old card" game) Attachment 37216 Maxwell and Bucky at the Illinois State Capital (I now know how Tiger Woods and Michael Jackson felt about their dads) ok, Lets get some trading going. There is an offer for Bucky to go to SRI LANKA but its still a few weeks off so lets get a trade in between then. email me with what you got and make it good as Buckys value just skyrocketed! Its now worth ....something?? |
I wonder how plausible it is to get a photo of Bucky in front of all 50 state capitol buildings. I'd gladly take him on a tour of the Nebraska State Capitol.
|
we must make that happen! We got 48 to go :)
|
Thank you for this fun and entertaining thread!
Hello my friends,
I just wanted to express my happiness over this fun thread! I look forward to spending my days trying to feel better by participating in our hobby via this wonderful site. I am completely into this thread! I look forward to seeing all the fun places and things that Buck Herzog is/will be doing! My grand-daughter (as well as the rest of the family) loved seeing the Easter egg hunt and the welcome party with those figures that my lil' grand-daughter quickly told me what and who they were! PLEASE keep this thread going! I, for one, am very into this fun thread! You have really hit a winner with this thread! Thanks to all, Bill Hedin:eek: |
The Herzog is my favorite card in the T206 set and I would be more than happy to give the "Large Ass" example a tour of the Virginia state capitol.
|
I live 20 minutes from Austin... let me know.
|
awesome, glad your enjoying it Bill! Bucky is on the way to Todd and then Im pretty sure Josh is bringing old bucky to Sri Lank which will officially make this the farthest traveled t206 EVER! The goal is get Bucky into orbit after that!
Also, Don't forget as George mentioned, there is a cool little book that comes with it for you to put in your information to be saved for posterity! |
if u get me bucky by may 26 I can take him to ecuador and the galapagos islands...and I can get St Paul, MN...the capitol!
|
holy crap peter that would be awesome! I'll find out from Josh if this is doable with him but it might be conflicting schedules :(
|
I can handle the GA Capitol.
|
Sorry folks, tough decisions to be made. We are going to have to make a choice between Sri Lanka/Maldives or Ecuador/Galapagos. I leave on May 17th and won't be back for a few weeks . . . I'd love to take Buck to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, but I'll leave it up to the group. If only we had had this thread up when I was in India last year . . . so sad.
On a related note, I have been to the Galapagos and had an amazing time. There is some really great diving down there! I am going diving in the Maldives and with any luck I will be seeing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLyMp...eature=related |
Okay...Bucky vs a Galapagos Dragon in a fight, who wins?
|
Take him to the maldives!!! if he's available I'll take him to turkey late summer!
|
I believe it comes down to whoever (or is it whomever?) offers the best trade in the eyes of the current owner. :)
|
Man,,,,,large ass Bucky's got it goin' on right now !!!!! He's getting to do what I want to be doing when I can eventually retire :p Lucky dog........:D
|
haha we can all live vicariously through big ass bucky :)
Josh is getting Bucky this week so it'll be his call where Bucky goes. Im very excited to see for myself :) |
State Caps
I live in Raleigh. NC capital can be covered if the trade is right. Looking also to hit Belize later this year...
|
I want in line too!!
Bucky sent me a letter saying that eventually he wants to make it to the thriving metropolis of Lucas, TX. I can take him to the city hall and maybe even speak in front of the council with him in hand. Regardless, I would like him to make his way here to Lucas in the future. Just put me in line in for a future showing. regards
|
Awesome. Glad to see we have a waiting list now. :)
Probably would be easiest for future bucky travel agents to look on this thread for who to contact next. Anyone know a celebrity? |
We're climbing a few 14ers this summer. Maybe Bucky will tour Santa Fe and then become the first T206 above treeline.
|
Take Bucky back to the ball game
I think good ol' Bucky should try to make it to every MLB stadium this year...
|
Treeline
It's only about 5,000' around here, but we do have the world's worst weather and highest recorded wind speed. I'll give him a ride up Mt. Washington, NH.
|
Teammate Reunion
How about this one? I will be happy to take Buck to the Oklahoma State Capitol and snap a picture of him reuniting with his old teammate Jim Thorpe (painting).
It may not be as exotic as (anywhere else), but there might be a few tears shed! :) |
Wow buck is going to be busy this year. I wonder if there is scubagear for a tobacco card......
|
It'll just be like a nice long soaking.
|
Bucky can come along to a Red Sox game and the MA State House with me if he would like - he's got an open ticket with me (kinda like Jerry Glanville used to do for Elvis)....

Large Ass has found his way to the Old Dominion. I plan to keep company with him for the next couple of weeks. This hits along side a good run of business travel (local) so we'll see where he goes before he gets passed to the next carrier of the torch.
|
Mr. Herzog and I did some traveling today:
We visited: The West Virginia State Capitol http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...rzog/WVcap.jpg The tribute to the West Virginia Miner http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...rzog/miner.jpg And Marshall University http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...herzog/WAM.jpg I figure he'll hang with me another week or so so I can show him around my hometown of Roanoke, VA....but he'll be looking for a new home soon. |
AWESOME! I miss ol bucky already :( Great trade btw :)
|
I do advertising and marketing. One of my clients is the Salem Red Sox. IMO they play in one of the most beautiful minor league ballparks in America. I had a meeting and then Large Ass an I headed out to watch a little BP.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...g/photo1-1.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...zog/photo3.jpg One of the cool features of Lewis-Gale Field is a mini Fenway whiffleball park...I would love to see Leon and Ted Z square off in a home run derby. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...og/photo-1.jpg SPECIAL OFFER TO NET 54 MEMBERS. If you get near Salem, VA and want to take in a game, just drop me a PM or email and i will send you four tickets. |
Great pictures! What a beautiful minor league park.
|
yeah would love to play wiffle ball there!
|
Not a lot to report today...Mr. Herzog took in my son's high school baseball game. My son's team won 5-4 in the 7th. The most interesting part would be that they hit into a 6-4-3 TRIPLE play...not sure that isn't the first one i have ever seen live that wasn't of the rec-ball variety.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...og/photo-2.jpg This weekend will probably be the last in Casa BBCARD1 as arrangements for travels of a more exotic variety are coming his way. But we'll get him to a couple more Roanoke Valley icons before he wings his way to his next home. |
a triple play?!?!?! wow ol bucky is living the high life :)
|
As it is the last weekend Buck will be visiting us, I stopped off for a couple of pictures on my way in to work a little...
The Mill Mountain Star is the iconic Roanoke "thing." Constructed in 1949, it is the world's largest freestanding illuminated star. I know an old guy who worked on the installation when he was a college student. The star is 88 feet tall. When illuminated at night, you can see it from pretty much all of the valley. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...erzog/star.jpg Opposite the star is an overlook. The picture does not do it justice, but old Buck enjoyed the view. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...zog/millmt.jpg I was hoping to take Buck on a short hike on the AT, but it is not looking promising as he has to leave tomorrow. Tomorrow I will post some more personal pictures so you can see what his host family in Southwest Virginia looks like. |
Got his passport?
Not as exotic as the Maldives etc but perhaps when Bucky finishes touring a few State capitols he would enjoy seeing the Olympic flame in Vancouver?
|
Star of the South...been a long time since I was there.
|
Last day in VA....
My hound dog Bo contemplates his large assedness. Bo is a Redbone, an unusual choice for a suburban home, but enjoys it. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e.../herzog/bo.jpg The BBCARD family enjoyed Mr. Herzog's visit. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...herzog/fam.jpg |
nice! Bucky enjoying some fun holidays! Love it! Wheres bucky going to next?
|
I think Buck needs to travel to Miami and see South Beach in all the splendor it has to offer, neon lights, bikini contests, etc.
Send him my way when it is feasible and I will post some pics (maybe Leon will need to edit them if anyone has ever been to SoBe before!! :D |
greg, Bucky will need his shots first ;)
|
Last night in VA, I asked Buck what he wanted to do and he said he'd like to play a ballgame. So I dusted off the old APBA game and played the 1911 Giants vs. the 1911 As. Buck went 1-4 with an RBI and Matty got the win 4-0.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...og/photo-4.jpg Next stop for Herzog, the Big Apple and points beyond. |
awesome! Im currently doing the ENTIRE 1910 Stratomatic season. It will take about about 3 years but I love it. Bucky is on the Doves and playing quite well 25 games into the season :)

He's Back . . .

I am happy to report that myself, my wife and of course, the Big Ass Buck had a wonderful time on our trip to The Maldives and Sri Lanka. During his time with us Buck communed with the Buddha, tried some traditional Sri Lankan cuisine (Chicken Cheese Kottu pictured in photo), spent some time on the beach, and in perhaps a first for any T206, went on a scuba dive in a makeshift "wet suit". I can't say that it was the most secure apparatus ever constructed, but after a few hours in the Maldivian sun he was as good as new. Sadly, now that our journey has come to an end it is time for him to move on . . . so shoot me an email (joshmargolin@gmail.com) if you want him and I'm sure we can work out a trade!

Ok....
So, this may just be the greatest thread I've ever read... Yes - that may be correct. It makes me so happy that I'm not even necessarily able to laugh. Well done gentleman....well done. That scuba diving pic is Grade-A meat. I know there is a waiting list, but I'm probably going to be in Jamaica or the Bahamas for my honeymoon in November.................. |

Bucky should have been on the Net54 T-Shirts!

|
Nice photos!
I am having a hard time not feeling a little bummed that LAH has travelled more in a few months than I have travelled in all my years. Trade on! |
Thanks for the update & pics.......
This is a very enjoyable thread :D That ol' Bucky sure does get around :D
LAH RULES !!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Quote:
I agree! LAH rules!! Funny though, no one has contacted me about who wants him next :confused::confused: |
I see from the thread that there are several in the passive trade partner line.
But don't worry if you have to hold on to him for a bit while waiting for the offers to arrive. They'll come in eventually. Who can resist the opportunity to be a part of an international phenomenon like this? Years from now, we fortunate few will look back on year one of LAH's travels and say, "My name is in the first log book." and tears will well up in our eyes and in the eyes of those who hear us. And then one of the less fortunate will say, "I took my turn recently, it was an indescribable experience. But, man, shipping is outrageous these days!" |
Large Ass is GONE!
I'm gonna miss him, he's off with Peter Ullman to.........(I know but don't want to steal Peter's thunder) :D
