Just picked up the Wagner from Jim here on Net 54. The Cobb came last month but I think they look better together. My first Wagner card and the new favorite in my collection

Brian - fast out of the gate, huh?

Jesse- that's a great pair you landed!!

Finally landed one of my favorite cards via Leon's auction, and with my usual focus on color and centering.

Congrats Greg

- That's one of my favorites as well. I picked one up last year.

Blankenship was the first Major League player born in my hometown.

Thanks to Tony at Monster Cards for the T206s and it is always good to see JD Heckathorn come on down for a visit - especially if he brings Fatima cards. I am glad that each of them braved the weather. I am still not sure why the show promoters decided to go head-to-head; it meant a lot of time in the car and less time flipping through books of commons for a 1958 set.

That Giants piece is really cool. I wonder why no Matty? Gorgeous nonetheless.

I need to give big thanks to Sean B and his guy Deron for making this Cobby pick up such a smooth transaction. Won't bore you with details, but they were exceptionally communicative and accommodating.

Great Pick Ups so far!! Here is an American Tobacco Company building in 1908 with a streetcar in front of it. Even though the district didn't put out baseball cards it's still a neat postcard scene.

And a Carrillo matchbook cover to go with the Adam Hat Premium (not to size)!!

btcarfagno 03-04-2015 03:57 PM

My first Helmar stamp. I liked the fact that the registration is so off that it has a kind of ghost image effect.

Nice E120 grabs Sean.

I feel lucky to have spotted this Ruth late night shortly after it listed, then decided to roll the dice on a zero feedback seller. It arrived safe and sound, and it seems this seller's- "these were my grandpa's cards" story is fully legit. The stain is nowhere nearly as pronounced in person, but am curious if any have had success soaking E120s. I've never soaked a card, and probably won't try on this one, but still interested to know if any think I might be able to clean this one up a bit.

rhettyeakley 03-07-2015 11:34 PM

I know not as many people get jazzed about items like this (other than Leon & I :) )

This is the only example of a wrapper of Bishop's Chocolate that I have ever encountered that is correct to the 1910 period, there may be other examples out there but I have never seen any. This is exactly the right size for an E99, E100, and E221 (folded) to have been distributed in (scanned larger so you can see the writing). A few of the team cards say they were included in 5-cent packages of Bishop's Chocolate, Nut Bar, and Almond Bar.

Anyways, it isn't something you will likely see again for a good long while so I figured I'd share it...

Rhett:

The ancillary items to a card collection are very important supporting role players. All of my Old Judge non-card items help define the universe in which the cards existed at the time. So, as far as I am concerned your Bishop wrappers are awesome!
