Not a Giants fan per say, but how do pass on something like this? I just couldn't.
Dave Grob |
Very nice! Is that from when they won the NL pennant in 1962? Hanging in Candlestick during the World Series?
|
Giants
Dave,
I'm really not a Giants fan, but that bunting is very cool. I especially like that the Giants are noted since most of them are just the team colors or some variation of the colors. |
Candlestick Park Bunting
Still looking into the dating, but first blush is early 1960s. This would have included the opening of Candlestick (1960), an All Star Game (1961), and a World Series (1962). Not claiming it's from any of those at this time as now the real fun starts...and I mean that with all sincerity.

I AM a Giants collector and have a similar banner (pics attached). As you can see by the label on my banner, it was produced by the Paramount Flag Co. I have several smaller flags (including the one sewed onto the middle of your banner). I would guess your entire flag is also a Paramount product. Is it marked? I did some ebay deals, years ago, with a former employee of Paramount. He included some nice documentation with the things I bought and I was able to call him when I got the big bunting. He confirmed that mine has the early 1960's labeling. The labeling apparently changed through the years. I have never been able to connect my bunting to a specific time and place. Please let me know if your research produces any "hits." Seeing your jersey pickups, I have to think you are better at research than I am. Rob |

Rob,
Love your bunting. While our designs are similar, yours appears to be in line what they decked Candlestick Park out in on Opening Day 1960. You may want to look for other images of that event to see what you might see. My flag was manufactured by Emerson Flag MFG. CO (of San Francisco). They opened for business around 1909. Dave Grob |

Just picked up my 1936 World Series Game 1 ticket from the mailbox. DiMaggio's first.
A few months ago, while returning from a trip with my girlfriend, I actually picked up a Game 6 WS ticket from 1951, which was of course, DiMaggio's last. On this one, I even got the seal of approval from the GF! |

Just won this on eBay. Any pennant collectors know exactly when it is from? I assume early 50s? Most of the examples I found said "Nat'l League Champs" above or below Ebbets Field.
|
Hi Ben,
Is listed in Mikes book as 1950s 3/4 size rare 175-225... Hope that helps a little. |

That's great! Thank you for looking it up. Seems like it is in nice shape so I guess did okay at $130 plus shipping. |

Picked up a few baseball kids theme.
https://s31.postimg.org/cplb0iw4r/19..._Haleymark.jpg Cecil Haley. 1939 "negro mascot" hired to help snap Giant losing streak. The only way a black person wore a major league uniform in those days, sadly. 8 more years to wait. Found this interesting write up on Cecil. Then a pic that reminds me of my youth. https://s32.postimg.org/psaqgf8yd/19...anokidmark.jpg |

Wow Tony! Great pickup. To obtain either one would be exciting...to get both together is awesome. Congrats! Giants mascot Dewey - I love the enthusiasm evident on the face and body language of Giants mascot. Quite a contrast to the other young fellow! :) |

Got this cool photo of University of Maine coach Wilkie Clark; circa 1920's. Looks original, and was clearly pasted into a scrapbook before I got it.
Before he was the coach of UMaine, Clark played all over the minors. In 1906, he played for the Scranton Miners, hitting .262. A good average, but not as good as .336, belonging to their leading hitter, Archibald "Moonlight" Graham. |

Flea market browse pickup
Browsed around today at a flea market. Saw nothing special, but grabbed these for practically free ($6):). The postcard pictures an old Yankee Stadium. Maybe an expert can assist me with a date of this card type.
The dual cookie package I tried looking up, but could not find anything with an exact match of box markings. Mine is marked "Baseball Card & $5 Coupon Inside", and has quiz #10 on the reverse. The only mention of date is referenced with cookie shapes and art work copyright 1989. I'm tempted to open a box to see the cookies and card. Maybe there's a cookie expert out there. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psnrj6yzgv.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psyyd3yfky.jpg Top, Bottom, and side panels http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pssn4ihdwq.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pstavy4bic.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps1czisdyo.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2po9qckl.jpg |
The postcard is mid to late 1930s. No idea on the cookies.

Someone knew how much I like baseball and thought of me when they found this snapshot of Ron Fairly in their grandmother's possessions. So here is my (once in a great while) memorabilia pickup thread contribution.

Picked up this Ted Williams signed lineup card. Still looking for lineup cards signed by managers who are in the HOF or were significant figures in baseball history.
edit: Why don't my pictures ever work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/222186922967...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT |
Added another from this Cubs set I love and am working on:D

I just right clicked on it and I got "open in another tab"? which I did, and was able to see it. 1972 Ted Williams Signed Jsa Auth Game Used Line Up Card Texas Rangers If that is correct above (partial copy and paste) it might have something to do with the fact it's an E-Bay pic and/or how you uploaded it? |

In your case, you would be further ahead just to post the link like I did here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/222186922967...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT When I take photo's, I upload them to my computer into a picture file. From there, I right click the pics individually then send them to "My documents". When I want to post a pic here, I go to Leon's "Manage Attachments" (below) then click "Choose file" which then takes me to all the pics I have saved in "My Documents" I click the pic, hit open then upload it to the site. Hope this is what you're after and hope this helps? |

I have been waiting for a gamer from my favorite current Yankee, Brett Gardner. I finally got my chance last week when I made a deal for this one.
From the photo match, it appears that he used it to hit an inside the park home run. Even cooler is that the night before, he hit a grand slam, becoming the only MLB player to hit a GS and an ITPHR in back to back games (I think). So it is quite possible he used this bat for both (I think). I will have to do some more research before I call it though. In any event, I am stoked to finally have my Gardner gamer! |

Stumbled across these today. I don't know much about them, but they are in great shape and thought they were pretty cool. These are from the 50's, correct? I also assume they are pretty plentiful. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.
