Let's See Your Clemente Cards
Same as the Robinson thread, one per day, and let's see how long we can play. I will start with one of my childhood cards:

One of my favorite players.
This one's at PSA right now. Anyone want to guess the grade? I'm hoping for a 6. https://i.imgur.com/XErghKil.jpg |

Really?!

The core of my collecting interest! This will be fun. The hard part will be only 1 per day!!
Okay. Hmm. Where to start. How about a rare 1957 Pirate Team issue. Still shaking my head as to how/why it was graded a 2! |

Here s the favorite one I own. A real missing yellow ink printing error. It is a bad picture and looks WAY better in hand with very vivid colors.

From my 1971 set binder...

Perhaps a little off topic, but it’s a great tribute to Clemente. I was recently in our local Dodge dealership in Daytona Beach, Florida. The owner of the dealership is from Pittsburgh and is a Pirates and Clemente fan. In 2107 he purchased the 1972 Special Edition 440 Magnum Dodge Charger, one of only 800 constructed, which was given to Clemente for winning the 1971 World Series MVP. He restored the car and it’s on display with a fantastic car cover and memorabilia celebrating Clemente. Here are some pics. Didn’t mean to post off the topic of cards, but thought some of members on this thread would appreciate it.

Nice 1955 Rookie Bruce. I attended batting school in Torrejon from 1977-1979. Lots of great memories there. There aren't many of these team issued 1971 Action photos cards out there. For what its worth there are 10 total on the PSA registry.

Sorry for the double pic. It was scanned a few years ago and I am currently too lazy to dig it out and rescan them. :D

A nice companion for Bob's 57. The toughest of the Kahn's Clemente's in rarely seen condition (technically it's rarely seen in ANY condition).

That is AWESOME!

Late to see the post. Thanks for sharing. I love how much detail they put into the car and the display. Befitting for a true legend on and off the the field. Great stuff!

That '65 Topps is also top notch Rats. Congrats to both. |

Does anyone know: was he called Bob in his personal life? Everytime I see "Bob Clemente" it just looks odd to me.

Another near impossible card in any condition - This is 1 of 2 highest graded. Bought it many years ago from John Rumirez and wish I could find more at many multiples of what I "overpaid" at the time!
|
Sweet, Venezuelan!! I've yet to find that "overpaying" for a rarity was ever true for very long if at all. :)

This isn't a card, but I thought it would be worth posting in the event a few of you didn't see this when I picked it up a almost a year back.
Note he signed it "Bob Clemente", and I haven't seen too many items signed that way, though I have seen a few. Does that add to the value? I might not say that, as many prefer "Roberto" over "Bob". Certainly adds to the "uniqueness" though. Was super stoked to add this item when I did...... and I still have it. I kind of think its like owning a little piece of history. 1957 Cards/Pirates signed scorecard. Signed by BILL MAZEROSKI BOB PURKEY BOB SKINNER BUDDY PRITCHARD DON BLASINGAME ED KASKO JOE TRIMBLE JOHNNY O'BRIEN KEN BOYER KEN HAMLIN ROBERTO CLEMENTE ROMAN MEIJAS VERNON LAW X2 Bill Mazeroski signed at the top middle, and Clemente down along the bottom right. :) https://i.imgur.com/0NxBaUal.jpg :) |

Bob - Some tough in grade beauties you are posting there!
Floyd - Super tough Exhibit - took an offer that I "couldn't" refuse years ago on mine and am still looking to replace it! and one for today: Okay, so technically 2, but they are both tough high grade 1971 OPC's - both tough high numbers in any condition. |

Here is a Clemente with others from a 1962 Post Cereal Super Market display. And a photo of what the display looked like. But you can't see the Clemente in the photos. Note the display at the top of the photo

Awesome display item Fred!
Great item!

I've not seen that before. Topps did a great job. Definitely my favorite Clemente card aesthetically.

I dig rough cuts, so my eyes about popped out of my head when I saw this and I had to buy it:

How about the better of 2 I know exist - 1957 Topps Salesman sample panel |

Here is by fay my worst condition Clemente. It's creased, off center, extremely faded, and been wet. At least it doesn't have paper loss.:D

I have a '72 Clemente that looks like it was carried in someone's wallet for years. I really enjoy well-loved cards like that. |
|
Not much love for Clemente? Regardless, we press on:
https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...20Clemente.jpg When I was a kid I thought Bob and Roberto were different guys. |
A lot of love here!

The only other (in addition to the 1957 previously posted) salesman sample with Clemente that I am aware of. Another super toughie and best condition of them.

Cheating a bit here, but cheating can be fun. My Clementes together, minus the rookie which was elsewhere at the time. Most of these were acquired 20+ years ago, and I've had the '59 longest, since I was about 14. My mom got it as a Christmas present, and hooked me on Clemente at a young age.

Good morning Clemente Fans!

I'll go with a tough high grade 73 OPC this morning. Gotta get away from this grading company insanity!

Rolling through all the excellent cards I noticed that my favorite Topps base card wasn't shown until the cheat group pic...:) The one time that Clemente was a High Series card (sits below the Rose Rookie in a binder, SWEET) and probably my favorite card of his...here is my 63 Topps and I thought I would grab the 63 Fleer from the same year, they look good together.

Southland Solid Bronze statue
7 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys
Here is a solid bronze statue done by Southlands. These were never made available to the public as there was a lawsuit between an investor for the Clemente piece and the company. No more than a handful were even produced. The first photo was taken a few years ago at the National. Then another shot of the solid bronze The next 3 photos show the original mold Finally some Southland prototypes including a wax and a painted wax, and Hartland painted bronze plastic and partial statues and the Hartland wax. |
