This trimmed beauty completes my T207 set. Although this one came from an auction, many of the final cards I needed were acquired through Net54's B/S/T. Thanks for the help.

As this 1937 Wheaties Series 9 panel of Bonura shows, fielding can be an uphill battle.

I really do like many of the far out designs seen in Series 9.

Congrats on finishing such a substantial set. I'm sure that felt great to cross the last one off the list.

Congrats to all, especially completing the t207 set. Jeff, you have had a nice week!

I am not even sure what this is. But it’s old and it’s Wagner, so I’ll take it

Just an uncut 36 card 1952 Topps sheet. Not the greatest shape but rare nonetheless.

Say it ain't so Joe! Proof positive that it is best to pick up unknown T206's at the beginning of April.

Congrats Jesse, buying a house in California and an early Ruth at the same time is quite an accomplishment.

Yea housing market has the same problem right now as a lot of these prewar cards in many places, OC included. More buyers than sellers. Very happy to get both done.

Ryan I've never seen or even heard of that particular Wagner before, but it looks great!

Ryan, sick!

Got this in LOTG...(great auction, Al!)...

My dad and I used to go up to Cooperstown every year (we actually liked going in the winter, we had the town to ourselves). One of our trips, we bought a low condition Cobb Bat On at Mickey's Place, but it's long gone...So, I'm glad to pick this example up, as it reminds me of my Dad, and those trips.

I just knew Ryan was on that Thorpe.
Great Speaker Jim.
This is my haul. I got really luck on the E126. Went to bed around midnight the high bidder. Randomly woke up at 2:44am ET, saw I was outbid and got my winning bid in with 0:30 seconds to go.

Ryan, I'm not a T206 guy but am curious about your thoughts on the 520 set that sold last night.

benge610 04-03-2022 02:40 PM

In the small fish pool,
I picked up the battery mate for:
my E98 color run catcher, Johnny Kling.

Maybe a "battery-mate" color run is in my collecting future, lol.

Babe's signature has always struck me as a thing of beauty. I love it when someone signs with a real definitive and attractive style.

Finding a gem mint example of his signature on a white ball, highest graded— with ironclad provenance... it was more daydream than actual collecting goal. Can't believe it happened. Still hasn't sunk in.

This piece caused some tectonic shifts in my collection, yet as I am sure we have all encountered in our collecting journeys, we have to sometimes gives up great pieces to get one even greater piece.

Phil, I was following the T206 set. I think the final price with BP was quite strong ($72k), especially considering only about 30% of it was graded and none of the key cards graded above a 2 (and most graded less than 2). T

Finally completed the T205 Minor League subset with the addition of these two:

Adam

Thanks Adam (and Jesse!), the other writing was actually what made it a "must get" for me, as it pertains to the provenance. The writing is from the original owner, specifying the exact date and place of the signing. It was on Babe Ruth Day in Houston, back on July 10, 1947, at the Texas League game between Houston and Fort Worth (which went 11 innings). I was able to track down lots of news media from that day covering Ruth's time there; he was on a tour supporting boys' baseball for the American Legion, sponsored by Ford Motor dealers. Was also able to find a program from a banquet/luncheon the Ford Dealers threw for Ruth on that same day in Houston (replete with the menu, LOL). It really contributed to the history and provenance of the ball, which in conjunction with it being a gem mt auto sealed the deal for me.
