Rare 1920 W-UNC Shoulderless Series
1920 W-UNC Shoulderless Series. Looks like the Ruth pop report for PSA/SGC is zero. Out of the 11 baseball players in the set only 1 Cobb REA sale in 2013, 1 Sisler, 1 Speaker have been graded. I did see another image of a Sisler not graded, so maybe 2 of him, and a George Kelly listed here on this board back in 2013. Actors I could not find any info from this set on them?
SCD Write up: https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.co...derless-cards/ Link to the set: https://prewarcards.com/2016/10/05/w...trip-card-set/ Speaker link: https://robertedwardauctions.com/arc...klist-addition https://photos.imageevent.com/mordec...lderGroup1.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/mordec...lderGroup2.jpg |

Really cool Brian. I watched this lot as well. Glad someone here on Net54 picked it up. |

I guarantee you there are two Sislers. I owned two at one time and still own one. |

Regarding the actors, according to Wikipedia:
1) Jimmy Aubrey (23 October 1887 – 2 September 1983) was an English actor who worked with both Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, having gone with Fred Karno's theatrical company to America in 1908. However he left to start on his own in vaudeville. He started in comedies, then went on to comedic roles in drama. He appeared in 419 films between 1915 and 1953. 2) Edmund Richard "Hoot" Gibson (August 6, 1892 – August 23, 1962) was an American rodeo champion, film actor, film director, and producer. While acting and stunt work began as a sideline to Gibson's focus on rodeo, he successfully transitioned from silent films to become a leading performer in Hollywood's growing cowboy film industry. During the period between World War I and World War II, he was second only to cowboy film legend Tom Mix as a box office draw. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. 3) Joseph Schildkraut (22 March 1896 – 21 January 1964) was an Austrian-American actor. He won an Oscar for his performance as Captain Alfred Dreyfus in the film The Life of Emile Zola (1937); later, he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as Otto Frank in the film The Diary of Anne Frank (1959) and a Primetime Emmy for his performance as Rabbi Gottlieb in a 1962 episode of the television series Sam Benedict. |

Val, I don't know that a Standard Biscuit has been graded though I'm sure you, Steve, Phil, Matt, Dan or someone has a raw one sitting in some binder somewhere. |

Definitely the least impressive card in the thread, and technically not even an August pickup since I got it a few weeks ago, but sometimes a card just speaks to you; or as I put it in the BST . . .
. . . I’ve heard that every card has a story; in this case, I’m assuming it’s something like “they tried to scratch his name from the Cyclopean masonry, but it was too late – having been summoned, the non-Euclidean geometry of dread C'rl Rynold-Sothoth emerged slowly from an eldritch mist as purple as Lovecraft's prose, his star-shaped stalks ferociously gripping the many-tentacled bat undulating moistly behind his head.” |

R304
1 Attachment(s)
Picked this up. R304 Demeree Die - cut. It is fascinating to me that I am able to simply log onto Ebay and shop R304's R301's R337's etc. Some of the rarest cards of the 1930's. Cards that in many cases have only one or two known examples, and are approching 100 years old. .
In the case of R301's and R304's the fact that they are not traditional "cards" prevents them from appearing on many wantlists. But Type collectors and player collectors that take the trouble to track these down are rewarded with cards they will most likely treasure. This is only the second R304 I have owned, the first was a Pete Fox that I purchased from Tom Collier. Found this one on the Bay mislabeled and seemed like a good time to increase my collection of cards to scarce to ever be really valuable. |
Sweet Wajo, love the Novelty Cutlery set

Hey Phil! Nice E100 pickups. You're working on the set now? I had no idea. Good luck with it my friend. . |
PHIL have you come across any of the team cards? I found this board following a link to Leon and one of the Biship team premiums he had before his big auction sale. Just one of those things that always draws my interest. Good luck with set..

BST Pick Up
1 Attachment(s)
Thanks again to Jim Parker, parkerJ33, from our board for a FLAWLESS transaction from the BST....I would highly recommend Jim as someone you can trust while buying on the BST.
This Flick has a beautiful Sovereign 350 back! I needed this one for my Monster, and after purchasing it I noticed how tightly the Flick's lettering is up against the picture... I guess I never noticed this before, but the Flicks are like this where most other T206s have more spacing... just another oddity in The Monster I guess. |

My two lots from REA. Would have preferred the Newsboy Rusie as my type from this set, but it went past my budget....but happy with the Tiernan. It's a better scan than usual because it is from REA's site...the holder is so thick my scanner could not handle it.

Picked up this Jimmy Dygert. Did some research into the history of the Adams Express Company, which I found pretty interesting. Curious if anyone has seen any other T206 card with a similar marking…

I don’t have this one in hand yet, but pretty excited about this one! I’ve always wanted a Red Cross and kinda wanted a HOFer that wasn’t a Tinker.
Enjoy the day, Bob |
Nice Red Cross pick-up. Another type card I needed that went for more than I could afford.
|
Nice pick up Bob, congrats.
|
Thank y’all, and for helping me pay for it on the BST. I’ve got to get some more stuff sold but consider it to be a good trade and helping some folks out on their want lists at the same time! Very excited!

That Red Cross McGraw is spectacular.

First off, Beautiful Red Cross Cards Guys!!!
Here are 2 more to the T206 Set.... #498 and #499.... Thanks to Lee and his team in Sterling Auctions for the Tinker - Double Name! and Thanks to Brian and his team in Robert Edwards Auctions for the Cy Young Portrait... This Young might be the best looking of all my T206s , even in a 2.5, which is slightly below the 3.29 GPA of the set so far. |
