World Series Game 7

Anyone else watching the game right now? starting a thread to talk about some of the highlights of the game...

doug.goodman 11-01-2025 07:21 PM

I'll do my best to not complain about the stupid stats they they constantly spew.

I miss Vin.

bk400 11-01-2025 07:29 PM

Watching here. Ohtani looked a bit shaky in the first inning, but getting Vlad looking and doubling up Springer was huge.

Casey2296 11-01-2025 07:29 PM

Final game of the season, I miss baseball already.

Brent G. 11-01-2025 07:30 PM

I haven’t watched a full game this postseason, but yeah, gotta see this.

Same. At least we'll get the World Baseball Classic this March...and random winter league action for those that seek it out.

nebboy 11-01-2025 07:32 PM

Just glad it made it to 7

Blunder19 11-01-2025 07:36 PM

Rooting for Mattingly to get his first WS ring...

Blue Jays couldn't have been happy that he got extra time to warm up in the first inning. The rules should be applied the same to everyone.

bk400 11-01-2025 07:47 PM

The Dodgers have to get Ohtani out of there.

Agree. Although I suppose the stars always get accommodations -- like how veteran star pitchers get a more generous strike zone.

He looks tired and off. He got lucky that last inning, IMHO.

ValKehl 11-01-2025 07:57 PM

Too bad for the Jays that someone other than the recently-injured Bichette wasn't on second base when Clement got a 2-out hit to right field in the 2nd inning, as said other player would likely have scored. Go Blue Jays!

Happened again and they're talking about it a lot more. Needs to be addressed in the rules so everyone knows what to expect.

No need to be concerned about running around the bases when you hit a dinger!!

Ohtani is choking pretty hard.

doug.goodman 11-01-2025 08:03 PM

I said walk him too to my wife, but she wasn't listening either...

It's not like I'm the only fan who could see Ohtani struggling. It was obvious to anyone who's watched Ohtani pitch this year.

Same here. Hopefully it happens tonight!

Blue Jays defense keeps them in the lead. That's probably it for Scherzer.

Not like the last time two future Hall of Fame pitchers started game 7 of the World Series.

jayshum 11-01-2025 08:31 PM

When's the last time benches emptied in a World Series game?

Blunder19 11-01-2025 08:38 PM

Fun Fact: tonight will only be the second time in MLB history the WS winner was decided outside of the United States.

CobbSpikedMe 11-01-2025 08:39 PM

I'm not watching. I can't stand either team, but I have to say I'm rooting for the Jays to win so the LA Ohtanis go home with nothing. I can't watch it because each time I've tried to watch a game in this series, all the announcers do is talk about how great Ohtani is and they just repeat his stats and amazingness all game long. I can't take it. So, yes, I hope they lose and the Jays win. I can't believe I'm rooting for the Blue Jays. Never thought that day would come. :(

.

jayshum 11-01-2025 08:40 PM

Blue Jays should be up by 5 or 6 after 4 innings. We'll see if it comes back to haunt them.

Gorditadogg 11-01-2025 09:14 PM

It's getting tense now.

Although I was hoping Rojas would walk so Ohtani could bat with the bases loaded.

But it's not game 7 Ohtani vs optimal Ohtani. It's game 7 Ohtani vs the other options in the bullpen.

BobbyStrawberry 11-01-2025 10:17 PM

Joe Davis' Dodgers homerism on these broadcasts is completely ridiculous.

Vintagedeputy 11-01-2025 10:21 PM

Let’s go Jays!

jayshum 11-01-2025 10:40 PM

He was probably out at home, but I'm amazed at how quick the review was.

Definitely out, but yes that was quick.

Gorditadogg 11-01-2025 10:43 PM

Why did that PR slide into home instead of running? That could cost the Jays the WS.

It was pretty close if the catcher's foot was back down on the plate before the runner got there.

Wow wow wow - love a great close last game of the year!!!
Game if inches for sure

doug.goodman 11-01-2025 10:45 PM

Why are none of the shitty announcers asking why Hernandez was so shallow in left? That should have been an easy fly out.

doug.goodman 11-01-2025 10:46 PM

Hoping we go 19...

Trying to prevent a bloop hit from winning the game makes some sense.

Blunder19 11-01-2025 10:49 PM

True, but you have to pick where you're going to play. Clement not a big power hitter so analytics probably favored being shallower.

BioCRN 11-01-2025 11:18 PM

Yamamoto...wow. He's gotta be a heavy contender for WS MVP.

bk400 11-01-2025 11:18 PM

Yamamoto is the best pitcher in baseball this year.

doug.goodman 11-01-2025 11:20 PM

Roberts completely locks in Hall of Fame selection with the win. As a 5 time WS manager I believed he was a shoe in win or lose.

raulus 11-01-2025 11:49 PM

Couldn’t have happened to a better evil empire.

Just goes to show that if you spend enough, you really can win championships. Although the Mets probably wonder why their ship hasn’t come in yet.

sfmays24 11-02-2025 12:19 AM

Too bad Toronto never heard of a squeeze play that would have resulted in a different outcome on several occasions.

Exactly. You can only buy a championship if you spend on the right players, which means that money alone doesn't buy championships. Money may be a necessary condition, but it isn't sufficient.

I've gotten a lot of crap for saying it, but the Mets bought the wrong guy. Would Juan Soto defer like 95 percent of the value of his contract so the Mets could sign Yamamoto? The luxury box guy? I don't think so.

Awesome to go 11 innings too!
Makes me wonder what those HR balls will fetch $$$.
I ask b/c i saw SCP auctioning the #2 HR ball that Ohtani did on his 3HR game.
Who got the MVP????

I'm Canadian, but have never been a Jays fan.

The only time I liked the Yankees was when they stunk in the 80's and had a really classy superstar named Mattingly. He was also a good role model for my generation. It would have been great to see this man win one, even if only as a coach. It's long overdue.

I have always liked the Dodgers, but they've won their fair share.

Even though I've never cared for the Jays, Canada could have used the win. It would have been so much more than just a baseball game, symbolically. Oh well. Kicked around some more, lol. Still thankful for some things about America in spite of what both countries are having to endure these days: beautiful scenery and lifelong friendships.

I thought this was pretty funny! Different Will Smiths, but maybe every team needs to add a player named Will Smith.
