Warhop?

Bill, you are too quick on the draw.

Jacklitsch 05-13-2010 11:51 AM

Ok how about another one:

November 19, 1939

JP 05-13-2010 03:45 PM

The day the indoor baseball league began?

JP 05-13-2010 03:46 PM

Also the day Joe Dimaggio first got married...

Correct JP.

I was in San Francisco last week. My granddaughter was baptized at St. Peter and Paul Church. As I was leaving there was a display showing Joe and his new bride as they were married there November 19, 1939.

Well done!

JP 05-13-2010 04:12 PM

Thanks! Bein named after Joe gave me an advantage. ;)

When Lou Gehrig hit 4 HRs in a game, a teammate of his had more hits in the same game and the same number of RBIs. Name that player -- without googling it!

barrysloate 05-13-2010 04:15 PM

Tony Lazzeri? (just a guess).

After I guessed I went to retrosheet and for once in my life, I was right! Yanks beat the Athletics 20-13.

Here is another piece of trivia:

We all know Babe Ruth was a tremendous pitcher before he was moved to right field to keep his bat in the lineup. But has Babe Ruth ever pitched in a perfect game?

Section103 05-13-2010 04:30 PM

Yes* ;)

HRBAKER 05-13-2010 05:08 PM

Wasn't he ejected after retiring one batter and then the perfecto was finished by Eddie Shore I think.

edit: or Ernie, whichever wasn't the hockey player

JP 05-13-2010 05:16 PM

Well done Barry...i didn't think anyone would get it that fast!

barrysloate 05-13-2010 05:32 PM

Lazzeri was a good RBI man- once had eleven in one game.

Reggie Jackson

Rich Klein 05-13-2010 08:03 PM

It's Not Reggie

Reggie and Catfish only have 2 with the Yankees; 77 and 78

and 3 with Oakland: 72, 73 and 74

HRBAKER 05-13-2010 08:31 PM

Babe Ruth?

howard38 05-13-2010 10:35 PM

Wally Schang?

My sister was married there. Been to a couple baptisms there, as well. Is the DiMaggio display relatively new? Don't remember that.

Jeff is correct

It is GH Ruth

Red Sox: 1915, 1916 and 1918

Yankees: 1923, 1927, 1928, 1932

As you leave the church and turn right enter the first door on the right and next to the stairs that lead down to the restrooms and you will see a glass case with a nice pic of Joe and his lovely bride. Not really a display to him just something mixed in with other memorabilia from days past.

I love San Francisco!!
