Anyone know about this Gorgeous George postcard I bought?

I have written often on here that I love the obscure, esoteric and hard to find. I am always skittish about BINs on eBay when I can't find any previous price history for an item. But I used yesterday's 15 percent offer on eBay to pick up this cool Gorgeous George postcard.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/283030375791

SGC has graded four copies of the postcard, but PSA has not graded any examples of the item. I could not find any previous sales. But the image is cool, and I like the fact that it predates GG's two Parkhurst cards.

Have any of the wrestling collectors on here ever seen this postcard for sale before? The image is on GG's Wikipedia site, but I have found precious little info about the postcard itself. Anyone know how it was issued? I assume it was issued over multiple years, since SGC has graded the card as a vague "1940s" and "1950s" (or maybe no one has any idea when it was actually issued?).

Any chance it was sold at Gorgeous George's turkey ranch? That suggestion may be completely wrong, but I just wondered, since the flip does mention the turkey ranch he owned.

Neat card.

The ranch was purchased during the 1950's, so the SGC 1940's dating is incorrect.

Update: I thought there was an oversized version of the postcard, but I might be incorrect.

There is also an oversized version of the card, which I believe is considerably rarer.

Thank you for the post. I appreciate it. :) I had found that article when I was trying to do research on the postcard. I kind of thought the "1940s" by SGC was too early. I wonder if they then reconsidered and went with the equally vague "1950s" as a date.

There are are a fair amount of these postcards around but it is a neat item of an iconic wrestler who has very little made of him. Congrats on your pickup.

Thank you for the post. :) What do you think the value is? I assume I overpaid paid somewhat, but it wasn't a huge money item with the 15 percent eBay discount.

Probably overpaid a bit but this one is graded by SGC which is nice and I also overpaid one a 1976 Yamaktsu Mil Mascaras PSA 9 with the discount that was being offered by ebay.....I have a hard time putting a value number on it because wrestling cards are volatile in general.

Thank you the information. That is pretty much what I thought. I completely understand the importance of the Parkhurst and Wrestling All-Stars sets, but I love the obscure. I had never seen that postcard before. I usually filter out BIN listings, but I was looking for something that doesn't come up for auction much to use the 15 percent discount on.

I know the wrestling card market is a tiny niche in the hobby, but it is still amazing to me that cards of an all-time important figure in the sport like Gorgeous George sell so cheaply. I guess that is because he is pretty much unknown by modern fans.

I had seen that Mascaras card. Congrats on the pick-up. There are a bunch of good looking cards in the Yamakatsu sets.
