Lorillards Red Cros(N266) Ad Cut or Proof?

This is blank backed and not skinned with a smooth cream color. Possibly cut from an ad? Seller said he believed it to be a proof.

I suspect this is from an ad piece, there are several cards that appear cut from an advertisement to me. They are missing the 'Red Cross Long Cut' beneath the image, and have a brownish/golddish frame around the image, and blank backs. They have a creamer appearance more than white. Looks like this might be a trimmed down version of one of those, to me. I doubt it is an actual proof.

EDIT: Very cool card!

My money is on ad piece too but it is cut perfectly. In hand it measures exactly same top to bottom and has no bat ears.

I don't think it is a full proof; my hunch is that it is a cut version of the item mentioned above: either a proof or a piece of some unknown ad poster. Honestly, I really don't know enough to go either way but I am leaning towards proofs. This is a full one of them next to an as-issued card:

What is the piece on the left from? It's an ad? For general knowledge - I dropped $150 on this item because I liked it as a companion. Would love to see a full ad.

I think it's an ad, but the full thing isn't known. I'd love to see it if somebody has found one.

This isn't mine, but this card represents the second type of these, where the name of the card is not on bottom like in the card Adam posted, but in red at top like the proper cards. Note the creamier appearance.

Both types are rare. I only have 2 cards in the set, both the normal production.

What's on the back of the one on the right, Greg?

Hold on. Back up for the new guy. What are the two ad images you guys posted?

It is a blank back as well.

The one on the right in the image I posted (neither are my card). The handout version, without the "Red Cross long Cut" verbiage on card, and the brownish frame. There's two types of these blank backs, this one and the one Adam posted where the cards title is not above the boxers but moved to the bottom frame. They are all very difficult cards to find.

These don't seem like proofs to me, but handcut from some kind of display or advertisement (that presumably advertised Red Cross outside the card area, hence why it's been removed on the cards themselves). There's too many in two styles to be proofs, and they don't have any print marks. But what do I know, I think the evidence points to some kind of ad, kind of like the E79 Jeffries/E95 Cobb 'cards'.

Which are sheet-cut and found blank or with printed backs, for those unfamiliar with the issue.
